As predicted, Microsoft has slashed the price of all three versions of its Xbox 360 console in Europe, and at £160 ($245 USD) the entry-level Arcade model just barely squeaks by the Wii to claim the coveted "cheapest" crown. Of course it's still $280 in the U.S., but cross your fingers and hold your breath, because I smell a U.S. followup in the near future.
As for the other two higher-end models, the Premium Xbox 360 gets a £50 drop to £200, while the Elite inches down from £280 to £260.
Assuming Microsoft's neutralized any remaining Xbox 360 hardware failure issues, I'd call a price drop of $30-$35 in the U.S. "buy now," wouldn't you? Especially if you've been on the fence, or even sitting on the other side of it ogling stuff like BioShock and -- even though it has a few serious issues -- Mass Effect. Remember that the Xbox 360 is probably more expensive than the PlayStation 3 when you factor in apples-to-apples component comparisons with accessory upgrades. But you're paying for the option to buy low and upgrade later at your leisure. That's sometimes worth the price.
Will Nintendo follow suit and undercut the Xbox 360 if Microsoft drops the hammer stateside? Probably not. Nintendo's still outselling everyone, and king of the hill usually doesn't flinch first. Unless Super Smash Bros. Brawl fails to hand Microsoft months and mountains of sales, I don't see the Wii moving anywhere before the holidays, and then only if sales drop off. The dealmaker (or breaker) for Microsoft and Sony versus Nintendo? Grand Theft Auto IV. Get your tickets for that show now, because the fight's about to get really interesting.

Except that GTA IV hasn't got that promising reviews already.
But that's just what I've heard.
But the lack of game choices for PS3 as well as the high price can explain the sales being lower than the Wii's... But what's the excuse for the 360? That it's much older than the Wii?
That may be it..

I mean, it's more than likely the reason. It's the only reason I want a Wii since Twilight Princess was released on Gamecube as well.

My freind used to have a Wii and I played it a few times but just never really got to interested in it.Yeah having the motion censor controllers is fun but it gets boring after about 15 minutes.

I like the PS3 and the 360 (although right now I only own the 360, might change if the PS3 gets more exclusives I'm interested in) but I really want a Wii. I play it at my brother in laws all the time and it's so easy to get everybody involved. Brawl is great and watching people play it, especially people who wouldn't normally pick up a videogame is terrible fun. Of course, the glorified tech demo "Wii Bowling" is still the best reason to own the system. I watched people who can barely use a cell phone have so much fun with that one that one of the older women actually got one for Christmas. Twilight Princess, Brawl, Da Blob, Metroid, Mario Kart, Wario Ware, Super Mario Galaxy, No More Heroes, Super Paper Mario, Trauma Center, and Wii Play have all caught my interest and I've either had fun playing those games or am looking forward to them.

Some recent 360 games have been reported for bugs...maybe thats why everyone's so interested in the Wii all over again.
That, and the controller, AND the announcement of some new kickass games for it. Why wouldnt you want one for yourself too?

My girlfriend's brother has a Wii. It's got a lot of potential. If I had the cash to throw down for a new console, I'd still go with the 360 though. I don't like the PS3's pricepoints and lack of ambition and the Wii doesn't have that many great games going for it. Brawl should be good, but a new Soulcalibur will be better and the 360 has SF4 coming.

Why you ask? WHY?
I tell you why.
Because, when i come tired home from work i want to move my body as less as possible. I can't do that while playing the Wii. ;)

we got a Wii for christmas.
(from Dell of all places)
it's pretty cool - but also frustrating plaging games that require quick motion and shooting. (and yes the sesor bar is in an optimum spot)
playing metroid prime - i almost threw the damn thing through the TV set - it would just stop responding.
My kid loves MArio Galaxy though - and Lego Star Wars on the gamecube

Same thing with the PS3, perhaps moreso...the motion sense is not really down to an art as yet, however, I really think the wii could use a wider band range, because as you say even with the thing in the best recommended position, it seems to drop out way too much.
Guess you guys get the stormtrooper in the next soul calibur though, eh?
I am pretty dissapointed with wii, but it seems to be catching up - what it needs to catch up on, is what I thought would be the selling point for me - the availability of the Sega, Nintendo and TG16 stuff...there's some, but until the iceberg melts a little more there, I'm happy as is.
update: My son managed to find one at Best Buy today.I'll give my thoughts after playing around with it for a bit.
