Gamers can now fully immerse themselves in the 'Metal Gear Solid' universe even before the release of "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots".
How?
The speculation going on for a while has finally been confirmed by Konami. The company has officially confirmed that "Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection" will be launched for the PlayStation2 (PS2).
"Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection" brings together three classic titles of the series: the original Metal Gear Solid PlayStation Edition, along with the Director's cut of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence in a commemorative package.
Available in Japan for some time now, "Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection", rated M for Mature by the ESRB, will soon start selling in North America for a suggested retail price of $29.99, exclusively for the PS2.
Recently, Konami had announced a cell phone-based title, 'Metal Gear Solid Mobile'. The game is touted to be the first fully 3D Metal Gear title with graphics that are claimed to come pretty close to PS2 quality graphics.
The mobile phone-based 'Metal Gear' is scheduled for launch by the end of February, and will be exclusively available on Verizon's on-demand download service for three months, then being made available on other carriers.

Metal Gear Solid: Integral isn't included in this package? Thats stupid because most MGS fans (like myself) already have Substance and Subsistence. Integral is *really* hard to get your hands on, and most people would buy this package just for Integral.

I have all of the MGS games with one missing installment being, Subsistence. Integral, I'm not sure what it added, but I know the second disc for it was just the VR Missions that were released here. I have it as well.
I also have the awful "Snakes Revenge", on NES, as well as "Metal Gear".
I don't think we are missing too much.
One thing that is missing though, is MGS: Ghost Babel. It was only on the Gameboy Color.

It added some unlockables as well, maybe different endings (?). Not so sure. I had VR missions, and they were really fun, but it would be nice to have it all in one package. Subsistence is worth a go, you get more unlockables, camos, a convenient camera angle, the very first 2 metal gear games, online play and tons of other extras.

Damn, Snake's Revenge? you really are a MGS fan. I heard it sucks big time.
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake is a really great game. Metal Gear Solid borrows a ton of plot and game elements from this early title.

Portable Ops should be there instead. Ghost Babel doesn't figure into the canon of the series, but Portable Ops fits chronologically in between Snake Eater and Metal Gear for NES. Plus, i don't want to buy a PSP just for this game.

Ghost Babel is like an alternate sequel, like Snakes Revenge. Though I must say, it was much better.

I played the one (and pretty much only this one) on gameboy colour.
It was actually pretty good, looked a bit more like the first MGS did though.

I thought that was what was good about it. It was similar to the original Metal Gear, but had the look and gameplay of MGS and MGS 2.

I don't have any of them anymore so HELL YES that sounds like a cool deal. For $30 I'm DEF gonna have to pick that up. Now is it going to be the same Metal Gear graphics for the PS 1 or are they updating it. Either way I wouldn't care.

I highly doubt it, if they aren't releasing integral in the package  , then I doubt Konami is giving it any more thought.
