Anyone here like this NYC rock band? They've got three albums that all kick ass, in my opinion. They've been called the "saviors" of rock n' roll, and I might have to agree.

I love their first two albums...The last one that came out I was really dissappointed in...They kinda took a different direction, with the exception of a couple songs, and it seems they tried to get more complex with the music...Which isnt what The Strokes were originally about..

"Is This It" is an awesome album, but I've never heard their other stuff.

The Strokes are really banal your better off checking out the shit from the 70s that they do such a terrible job of regurgitating.

They're not that bad but I really prefer bands like The Hives, Jet, and Franz Ferdinand who seem to have a somewhat similar style with more subtleties and a lot more variation.

i already have all of the bands from the 70's :)
the 1st Strokes album was the last album i bought from having heard it played in the record store i was in at the time.
I was very impressed with what i heard because at the time - every thing else i was getting exposure to was basically some shitty creed clone.
i thought it was good basic energetic rock and roll that hadn't been heard (by me)in ages.
so yeah - i can appreciate what they did.

Have you heard a band called The Beat? (The US one not the UK one)

^^ I really dug this album
my friends were all into the strokes but i tended to think like EC that they were just recycling (and not that well). i do like the white stripes. i liked Jet's first album but didn't get into the second.
my latest buy is an album called Teenager from an irish band called The Thrills. i think its been out in the uk for awhile. i had an earlier thrills album that i really liked and am enjoying this new one - its kind of older guitar rocky with a bit more of a pop feel.

I dig The White Stripes first album... pity it was downhill from there. They sounded great as a raw garage band.

they aren't bad
kids these days could do a lot worse than pick up a Strokes record, it might even lead to them digging into the bands that clearly influenced them...and that's a great thing
If you dig The Strokes, I recommend TV On The Radio and The Walkmen

I love this, thought it kind of applies.
Wolfmother is so bad, Mike Patton can't even finish an interview.

I struck it in a cheap bin... it kinda slipped everyone by I think. I read somewhere they've started touring again.
Do you get into the band Big Star? They had some great tunes. Another overlooked 70s band.

There big hit was the tune Cheap Trick (think it was them?) covered for the theme to That 70s Show.
