screw the gaming forum, this deserves to be discussed where people may actually read it.
Oh, and if you read any further, you will probably read detials that you should not if you have not beaten it yet.
the first words out of my mouth at the end were "holy shit, wow". As far as video games go, it was citizen kane, casablanca and the usual suspects. The final battle felt like an old fashioned console boss battle, but the reveals towards the end, the tying up of EVERY loose end, how the deaths of every minor character on the diaries is shown or hinted.
Brilliant writing. Not to mention the endig you get if you rescue rather than harvest the little sisters is nothing short of heartbreaking.
Anyone else finish it? thoughts? The previous high water mark for story in a video game for me was half-life, and it is still great, but bioshock raised the bar to a point that it will probably be the better part of a decade before another one comes out with this level of writing.
