I just re-watched Planet Terror and Death Proof for the seventh time, and I have a craving. I need more films similar in style to these two flicks. Not similar in story, specifically... rather the FEEL of the films, the atmosphere. I love the look of the film (like an old photograph), the dirt and scratches, and the poor editing. I love the music and the dialogue... and everything, really. I just want some more films like these.

Since these two films were obviously homage-type films to, well... the Grindhouse genre, it shouldn't be to impossible to find a few recommendations, right?

I am aware that there are double-feature DVDs released under a "Grindhouse" logo... are these similar films? I haven't checked any of them out.

I found the latter part of Rob Zombie's Halloween to have the same feel as PT/DP. As well as a film I watched last October, The Slumber Party Massacre.

I Drink Your Blood

To me, Planet Terror particularly reminded me of this film. No so much in the plot/themes, but in the atmosphere and composition.

In the Death Proof vein...

Two-Lane Blacktop
Vanishing Point (the references to this one and Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry in Death Proof are rather overwhelming)
Race With the Devil
Duel

and Night of the Creeps is totally in the same vein as Planet Terror

A Bay of Blood aka Twitch of the Death Nerve

For your first grindhouse night, I would go with I Drink Your Blood / Dirty Mary Crazy Larry.

don't forget coming attractions

I also like to throw in some intermission footage from drive-ins.

Thanks for all of the recommendations! I'll try and order a few of these soon. I especially want to see Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill! I've heard a lot about it.

And yeah, Hell Ride looks pretty amazing.

Good list there. I would like to especially echo Faster, Pussycat...Kill! Kill! It's as kickass as films get. Hot chicks, fast cars, lots of ass-kicking and murder, etc.

Russ Meyer's the man...Beyond the Valley of the Dolls is amazing.
