I'm still under 1000, but I only had 3 games, and have only had them since Christmas.

I bought 3 more yesterday.

Mostly I'm working at Halo 3 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

To me, the achievements aren't really so much bragging rights, as they are just letting me know how much of the game I have completed.

A lot of them are based on doing things out of the norm but don't have a lot to do with finishing the game. Like Crackdown, keeping a body in the air with rockets or by tossing it for a certain period of time... that's fun and all but you can beat the game without ever doing it. Seems like some games base most or all of the points on actually playing through the game while others reward you more for doing crazy things and half or less of the points have to do with actually progressing through the game.

I will agree. That sounds like a very dumb and purposeless use of the achievements. Though games like Condemned, Halo 3, Gears Of War, etc., actually give you reasonable ones. Mostly beating them on the different difficulties, collecting little things on your way to the end, etc. Now Perfect Dark Zero is completely out of hand. You have to play 1000 deathmatches to get several of them. That is a waste of time, in my opinion.

It's possible. If all you have to do, is play video games, and you're good at them. Then yes, that's a possibility.

I just broke 6,000. Hopefully finishing Condemned will put me up to almost 7,000.
