I'm going to a friend's house for a party. It's become a tradition - lots of food, lots of drink, and lots of laughter. At midnight we go outside and bang pots and pans.
So, what are you all doing?
Party at the newb house.

Watch some bowl games(So Florida - Oregon especially.), have some drinks, maybe see AVP-R. Nothing special.
BTW.....I would like to send a personal invitation to each & every one of you for the BIG bash.
even Zero......just don't throw poo like you did last year.
Cheebs can make the dip.
hammerfan...try to keep your top on this year and for heavens sake...stay away from the stairs.

Not sure yet. I think we are staying in and drinking generous amounts of alcohol. Maybe watch some movies.

Having a party with a couple of buddies. Rocking the new year away (damn you Dick Clark! If it wasn't for Rockin' New Year's Eve, I wouldn't have just coined my last comment).

That sounds like a great idea, have a party at someone elses house rather than your own... then you don't have to worry about things getting broken... or steam cleaning.. ;)

I'm staying home with the boy to eat chinese food and maybe have a few drinks. Movies perhaps, or just the lame countdown shows.

I hate New Year's Eve. Too many people who shouldn't drink getting drunk and acting the fool, police checkpoints, cheap, shitty-tasting "champagne", people counting backward in unison... no fun at all.
I'll probably have a few drinks, because that's what I do every night, but I prefer to go to bed early and rise early New Year's Day to annoy the hungover masses.

people counting backward in unison...
Last Year I went to a tame little house party and this girl arrived completely drunk. She counted down every minute until New Years for half an hour!

I think myself and my girl will be hanging out and just having some drinks. We also might have my family hanging out, ordering some pizza, and just having some fun!

I actually love New Year's Eve.
This year, it's a romantic mini-getaway for two (the boyfriend and I):
Dinner at Gargoyles on the Square, check out the fixed menu (http://gargoylesonthesquare.com/page/nwwx/Upcoming_Events.html).
And then a night at the Charles River Hotel (http://charleshotel.reachlocal.net/). Picking up some champagne along the way.
I'm excited. :)
watch football - drink heavily - probably sob about my failed life to my puppy at around 3am

that sounds wonderful on ANY OTHER NIGHT, but with the traffic and crowds and the drunken dipshits running around... ugh
I'm not a hater, I wish you a wonderful evening and hope you have an awesome time, but I simply cannot stand the way people behave on New Year's Eve.

No crowd bullshit...keeping it quiet.
Me, the girl, and (I think) 5 of our friends.
Thai green curry with whole chicken drumsticks from scratch, with a few twists...and baked.
Baked potatoes, Kumara, tomatoes, seasoned individually.
Some kinda funky pasta bake.
Honey/soy/sesame chicken wings, with just a little maple syrup.
HEAPS of mixed Mesclun based salad, dressed, with the aformentioned tomatoes through it, avocado, some double smoked cheddar, pomegranate, and pepper.
Tandoori chicken (see the chicken theme? No we really just went out and couldn't be fucked shopping around too much.), home baked, probably gonna throw on a premix butter chicken sauce with a few spices.
Rice, rice, rice.
Burrito wraps, Bread.
Indian snacks: Muruku (look it up) and garlic/chilli peas, spicy bhuja mix with sultanas.
Watermelon with cracked pepper...yeah probably seems a little weird, but I love it to fuckin' death.
Made my killer yoghurt based garlic sauce for whatever purpose it may serve.
I think we're gonna bake some corn cobs too.
Drinks...lotsa drinks, orange, cola and lemonade sodas, orange juice, mango & apple juice, two bottles of tequila (El Jimador and Jose Gold) a bottle of Malibu, leftover chocolate schnapps and butterscotch schnapps, bottle of black douglas I got given to me for xmas, whatever the undecided guy ends up bringing, some champagne, a case of blue "cruisers"...which some kinda deceptively strong girly drink that seem to turn your shit green the next day...and a case of cerveza.
Lots of weed.
Bunch of store-bought candy.
The pre-prep for the food is taken care of now (12:30am NYE here), the girl, myself and a buddy have been working our asses off...
Activity wise, I imagine there'll be a bit of cooking...
PS2, and PS3, dvds and games, tv timed to check out the fireworks, drunkness, wastedness, good food and company, pigging the FUCK out, hangin' with our peeps, my cool cat, my shitty cat, my lizards, and my rat.
Don't imagine a drunk NY fuck'll be outta the question when the guys fuck off and/or go to sleep.
S'it really.

Some family is coming over and we'll drink, eat, maybe watch some movies... nothing spectacular. I refuse to go anywhere though. I'm working today until about 5 (if the end of the year processes go as well as planned) and then heading home until at least tomorrow morning. I agree with Rod about the driving, and it will be worse here in MI tonight because we're expected to get up to 4 inches of snow which will make those drunken idiots even worse on the road.

heehee... New Year's Eve was FANTASTIC...
Plus, Gargoyles on the Square wasn't all that crowded... The food was incredible (I had the oyster salad and then the duck for the entree)... We drove to the hotel, got there around 4. Taxi to restaurant at 6:30. Taxi back to hotel at 8:30.
SO... TOTALLY separated us from the crowds (I hate crowds too), but was a mini getaway from home.
Not a lot of crowds, but a LOT of time in the hotel room... ;)
We sipped champagne, took a bath, watched Superbad, South Park and enjoyed... ourselves. :)
