View Full Version : Winter fun
We're getting our first snow storm here in little Rhode Island. I'm supposed to be leaving work now......but traffic is at a stand-still on the highways.....I have about 20 miles to get home. THIS SUCKS
If I ever get home tonight THERE WILL BE BEERS DRUNK

Sweet goodness, keep warm and I hope you get home relatively quickly. Soak your feet in a warm bath too once you get in.
In Los Angeles it is not snowing but it is cold, and the nearby mountains are all capped with white. If I drove out east of here for about two hours, to the higher ground, I'd be in a freaking winter wonderland.
I just went to my local highway web-cam site.....it doesn't look good.

We got our first snow here in Pennsylvania last week. It wasn't much, but it was nice. As of now, we're getting freezing rain and snow is called for. I'm happy, since I may have a delay tommorrow (doubt a closing right now, but wouldn't mind it). What sucks though is that I'm going to a friends house tommorrow. They live in Maryland, so they're picking me up. If the roads are icy, then I might not go (though if I know my friend, icy roads won't stop her). And, even if I do go, it's going to be a long and dangerous drive. But, that's the forecast. As of now, the roads are a little icy, and the rain has currently stopped. I'll see what happens tonight.

BOOOOOOOOOURNS
I'm out near Boston... The snow started at 1 and hasn't stopped... My place of work actually closed at 1:00 so as to ensure safe transit home.
...
I'm glad I took a sickday.
I wish we had beers. DAMN YOU NEWB.

Yeah, just talked to my parents, they said it's been pretty much the same in Georgia.
Here (also in PA) we probably have about 7 inches of snow out there right now, maybe a little more. We've actually already had snow a few times, but not quite this much, it was really coming down this morning At least we didn't get all the freezing rain other areas are getting. And hey, my dogs are loving the snow. :p

From what I hear now, we're not getting any snow (I live in the Lancaster are of PA). Just freezing rain (which has now completely stopped) and really cold weather. We may have some ice on the roads tommorrow, but not much. I'm hoping for some snow. I can't wait to go to Maryland, and I don't care if the hour drive turns into a couple of hours of a drive. I just want to go. If I have a snow day tommorrow, I'll be picked up at 1:00. If I don't, then I'll be picked up at 5:00. I'd rather be picked up at 1:00. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

we had about a day of good packing snow (about 1.5 inches), then two days of melting snow, and now it's just cold and rainy.
we're supposed to get like 4-8 inches or so this weekend. i'm from chicago originally, so it's hard for me to get in the christmas spirit when there's no snow happening.
It only took me an hour to get home.....not as bad as I thought. It was a pretty rough ride though....visibility was close to zero.Had diner with the family....had a few beers...shoveled out the driveway...now watching Rob Zombie's Halloween.

So we got a bit of snow outside of Boston... My car is currently snowed in to my makeshift garage...
And my boyfriend just informed me that we don't own a shovel. :(
sigh
Guess I'm working from home again today. Oh, well. Event Horizon's On Demand.

We haven't gotten anything but sleet. Can you send some of that snow to Delaware?

Another from the living room window... Note the snow-covered PT Cruiser in the foreground... That's my boyfriend's car... Needless to say, it's not going anywhere anytime soon (I'm the lucky one with my car tucked in the makeshift garage).

So it's not so much that the roads are particularly bad at this point (I should have taken pictures yesterday)... it's that we don't own a shovel, so I can't dig out my car from the garage that got plowed in!

It snowed here once so far and that was last week. It was like an inch but only landing on cars and sidewalks. Nothing landed on the streets really. Still waiting for us to get hit hard. I always enjoy looking outside and seeing lots of snow.

Yeah, its great when I can sit inside and look out the window....as soon as I have to walk the dogs, or go somewhere, the novelty wears off quick. And this will only be my second winter here.....;) But I AM still hoping for my first White Christmas ever. :)
