Ha, just thought I'd share a tale of woe...
I'm housesitting my girls brothers place at the moment. It's not too far from my suburb and work, and it's a great place, 6 bedrooms, full of food, all the audio-visual shit you can imagine...so yeah, it's all good.
Only trouble is, the only bus service available from there is a private service, which is sometimes not as realiable as it should be.
I was one minute late on wednesday for work because of this - not a big thing, but when the bus was meant to arrive nearby to work 20 minutes prior to the time I was meant to start, that tells you about how unreliable they can be, eh?
The wednesday, let that slide, nobody's gonna bitch at me over a minute.
Thursday, I wake up early to catch the bus, and all is well.
We've been having some rainy weather here lately, well, actually there was just a rainstorrm/thunderstorm that seemed like it would just about pull the roof off, but, back to it.
The sky was overcast in the morning, but not a drop of rain. So, we're half way to the bus stop, and it starts raining, hardly anything worthy of worry, just droplets. Got to the bus stop, the bus is late (not much, just late) so, waited.
The rai got heavier, moved under a big tree for shelter.
Rain got heavier...heavy to the point it was near torrential. SOAKED me, like, standing under the shower kinda soaked.
There was no way I was gonna sit at work all day in stinky wet clothes...so we went back to the house, called work, told 'em I'd be late.
Then piss-off factor #2 came into play, when I realised the clothes I had on (on account of the move to the other house) were all I currently had washed and available...so into the dryer they went, time continued to pass....this dryer was from the 70's or some shit, and does a good job, just as long as you're not i a hurry. Took about 20 minutes to dry my saturated clothes.
Called a cab to arrive at the house, obviously they were busy on account of the rain, so I was waiting quite a while, to the point I hadda call work again to tell them that my initial expected late time would be "until the cab got there", but yknow, that was all good...anyone that saw this weather would know I wasn't bullshitting on it.
So, the cab finally arrives, at this point I'm already like half an hour late.
The cab approaches our destination, not 40 metres away, some 20 year old lookin' idiot in a BMW his parents clearly bought for him (unwisely) drovw alongside us...I don't know WHAT the fuck this clown thought he was doing, but he tried to merge into our lane, while he was damn near right beside us...both cars travelling at speed, he does this, and absolutely smashed into the drivers side of the cab...I was in the back seat, opposite side, but having pretty big shoulders, the seat belt really jarred the shit out of my shoulder, and my head hit the inside of the door. My girl was in the other side of the front...she got a bit worse (not much luck for her this year...first the fractured spine, then this), she was put into the side of her door, the seatbelt across the middle of her chest REALLY snapped into her, and she felt sick and dizzy already - So she was going to see her mother at the hospital anyways, she got herself a cab, and we both went our ways...She found that she had the whole wiplash thing.
The offenders car looked pretty fucked up.., the cabs front wheel had been pushed to an angle where it could only crawl foward, about a third of the car looked fucked. We gave the cabbie our details for witness if need be, before we left.
The guy tried to say something as we walked past, but I thought in my state of mind at the time, I'd better just move right on before he had damage comparable to his car...
No shit, from the time this was about to happen to the time it actually hit us, felt like slow motion...I saw it coming, and there was nothing I could do but wait for it to hit. I got hurt a bit (nothing I can't deal with), then I thought about my girl being in the front seat, having got it worse...and realised the idiot had knocked our cab just from a straight angle to almost completely diagonal, fucking asshole could've killed us...I tell you what, from that point on, I honestly wanted to just so badly fuck this guy up it wasn't funny, I swear I wanted to choke him while dropping elbows into his face until his eye cavities broke - I don't even usually think like that, pissed me off he bought that around too...In hindsight I'm glad I just walked her to her cab and moved on...
I was so shaken up and on edge right then and there, and throughout the day....ended up being 45 minutes late too, not that this was the big thing...felt angry and shaken all day. Took me til later that night to cool out, after finding out everything was ok, punching the shit outta the boxing dummy, then kicking back and relaxing with the girl and some friends...All I can say is that I'm VERY glad that the say I had at work from that point on wasn't half bad, because just one little thing, I think I would've just about got myself fired.
Anyways, all is well now, we're in communication with the cab company to look into charging this guy ourselves too.
So yeah...shitty morning that just got worse and worse.
This was, my tale.
