For some reason neither of my dvd/burner drives will open this data dvd I burned.
Every time I try, nothing happens. I then try going in to My Computer, and selecting the drive itself, which registers "my disk". When I right click on it to open/explore, regardless of which drive, the whole "my computer" thing says not responding, and the windows desktop seems to reboot.

Ideas?

Have you tried it on another PC?

Do other discs that you have burnt read ok?

The reason I ask is that it could be just simply that the DVD blank was faulty - it happens occasionally that you get a faulty one in a pack.

This will sound stupid, but make sure the disc is clean- any residue, even fingerprints can make a disc read faulty. Take a soft cloth and even some water if needed and clean the surface of the disc thouroughly.

It's also possible it was a bad burn, as Manchester says. The data will be on the disc but it's impossible to access it

Eat my ballsack, fuckstick. haha
Check your threads, I was only joking with that shit.

Yeah sounds like a bad burn...which is fucked on account of something near 2.5 gig being on there...stuff I'll have to DL again for my brother, ah well...at least I can see what it is.

Yeah, it's a total bitch when discs burn badly.

I have found that even with good brands, I get about a 0.5% - 1% failure rate. Doesn't sound like much, but when you have to re-download up to 4gigs of stuff it hurts.

At least if that is the problem, you don't have to replace computer parts.
