David R. Ellis is coming back to New Line for more death. The director has signed to direct and develop "Final Destination 4," the latest installment of New Line's popular horror series, which the studio plans to shoot in 3-D.

The premise of the series is that even if you cheat death once, a force that is death itself will stalk you until it finishes what is started, usually in a gruesome fashion. While plot details for "FD4" are being kept under wraps, the movie will stand alone: It will feature new teens facing new forms of death.

The script was written by Eric Bress, who co-wrote "Final Destination 2."

Ellis directed the second installment, which was praised for its elaborately orchestrated killings.

New Line's Richard Brener and Walter Hamada are overseeing the project, which has no start date.

The "Final Destination" films have been solid performers for New Line since they debuted in 2000. The first film grossed $53.3 million, the 2003 sequel made $46.5 million and the third, released in 2006, collected $54 million. The movies usually are made for at least half of that and do well on home video.

Ellis' credits include "Cellular" and "Snakes on a Plane" for New Line. He also is known for his second unit directing, having worked on such films as "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" and "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." He is in post on the thriller "Asylum" for Hide Park.

I'm looking forward to this one. I liked the way they all tied in so well with the one before. So I'm curious to see how they will do that with the fourth one.

Isn't that what they were referring to the third one as?
I tend to ignore the whole "to finish the series" prehype.

Better that than anyone who had too much to do with the 3rd.

What a coincidence...I just watched FD2 and FD3 yesterday...the news of FD4 just got my blood pumping! I love the FD franchise...it's one of my favourite movies. Everytime I watch a new one I'm always excited about the ways they are going to find to kill people. It's always bigger and better then the one before.

I can't wait to see this new one...I'm not entirely sure about the 3D idea though...I've never liked 3D it's hurts my eyes.

Liked the first three, so I'm looking forward to this one. Good director and good writer are behind it as well, so there's another upside.

P.S. Like the posters roshiq

I have no idea about rox or cs.net but I have collected them from another popular horror forum and liked to share with you here.

It's just a fan made poster who may be thought that next time it'll be great on a boat.

Yeh, on the forum I used to post on (Comingsoon.net/forums), there was someone called Rox who had a fan poster thread and he made them. (I know he made his own posters coz he'd do any that you requested)

***SPOILER ALERT***

FINAL DESTINATION producer Craig Perry confirms that the opening disaster in New Line Cinema's HD 3-D sequel Final Destination 4 will in fact be during a high-speed race car crash where an object will fly into the stands killing (or just missing) some of the audience members!

In addition, he says that the high-def 3-D technology they're using is the exact same system as the one James Cameron is using for AVATAR.

He explains that they're going to be very careful about how they use the 3-D in the film. "Having something pop out at the audience every four minutes gets boring," he explains. He wants to use the 3-D to add depth and drama to the film, which if done like MONSTER HOUSE can really add to the experience of the film.

Casting is currently underway for a March shoot in New Orleans.

I honestly thought that the second movie was one of the funniest movies that I've ever seen...but please, don't make another one...please.

Yeah... I kinda got tired of the series after the second one.

Let me guess the plot... A group of people start dying off. One of them finds a pattern, but it is really late in the game. Everyone dies except maybe one or two. <--- Okay now that we have the plot out of the way. What are some other gruesome deaths to expect?

My guess is another electrocution.

Not to sound pessimistic, but the first two were okay, but it is a bit redundant.

I hope it's the last one.

I have seen all three Final Destination movies.

The fifth might be animated and G rated.

New Line has tapped Shantel VanSanten, Bobby Campo and Hayley Webb as the stars of "Final Destination 4."

Nick Zano, Krista Allen and Andy Fiscella round out the cast.

David Richard Ellis, who helmed the second installment, will direct the horror-thriller. Story kicks off when a teenager's premonition of a deadly race-car crash spares his life and those of a few lucky others. But death continues to stalk those who escaped it.

Eric Bress penned the screenplay.

New Line is shooting the latest chapter, budgeted at $43 million, in 3-D. The previous three "Final Destination"s have grossed more than $150 million at the domestic box office.

Principal photography begins this month in New Orleans.

VanSanten recently finished production on Roland Joffe's "Finding TATU" alongside Timothy Hutton, Mischa Barton and Anton Yelchin.

Campo's credits include the UPN series "South Beach."

Webb appeared in the TV series "Shark" and "Close to Home."
