Anyone know the title of this movie???

I've been racking my brains for about two weeks now trying to remember the title of this movie I've seen back in the 80's I believe. I remember the main character's name was Cooper and was teased and called "Cooper Dick" He found a book and became possessed and exacted his revenge.
Anyone out there that can tell me the name of this movie I would greatly appreciate!
