I guess it just depends on what type of movie you like. I like Bava out of those.

I think fulci was good at action and zombie type films . Lenzi though did have a more varied career . I didnt like larraz i think he made edge of the axe . Although driller killer for me was a good movie made by abel ferrara

False. He is not better than Bava or Argento; shock, for sure, but the imagery wasn't as strong.

Gotta agree with you there.
But I'm not much of a Fulci fan, I only really like a few of his movies. The gore is top notch, but other than that, mostly his film don't really hold my interest all that well.

Yeah its an itallian thing i think the film its self acting is poor but for gore it does the trick .

I love Argento, one of my favorite directors, and Bava as well.......just something about Fulci's films usually put me off. Though I do really like Don't Torture a Duckling and City of the Living Dead.

bava and argento are definitely better directors, meaning compositionally and such. fulci is good for straight shock i guess, but if you're going technically, he's definitely far behind the rest. bava and argento made their movies like artwork, really. honestly they're too different to compare just like that.
it depends on what you like.

mmmhm. I would pick Argento over Fulci anyday. He's an artist and an excellent director. Any shmuck can put together some gorey scene but making it look good and play out smoothly is an entirely different story.

A Lizard in Woman's Skin, Four of the Apocalypse, Don't Torture a Duckling, Seven Notes in Black and Perversion Story?
All well made Lucio Fulci films!:)

I would put my money on Fulci as long as you look at the variation across his entire carrer and not just the gore films of the early 80's. I like Bava and Argento but Fulci is my messiah.

Mario Bava is the best outta those guys for me, I dig Fulci a lot more than Argento's self indulgent artwank.

For me, Fulci is more of a guilty pleasure. The gore and stuff you can't take your eyes off, but technically, Argento is a true auteur. Comparing Suspiria to Zombi is like comparing Psycho to Friday the 13th.

I've enjoyed watching films from Fulci, Argento, and Bava , have movies from all three in my collection, don't recall seeing anything from Lenzi though . Really think each director has made some damn good ones, and Asia Argento (Dario's daughter) is coming into her own now as a Director, thought she did an amazing job on "The Heart Is Deceitful Among Other Things" . ~Blood D~

For a smart, stylized scare, I choose Argento; for fun & gore, Fulci; and then when I want to savor some gothic goodness, I watch Bava.
You can't go wrong with any of them!
