What did you guys think of this segment of Grindhouse? I liked it better than Planet terror, and it's actually #10 on my top 10 now. I admit it was really, even far too slow at the beginning and middle, but it was totally paid in full with the last 30 minutes. I also thought that the "Ship's Mast" chase scene was really freaky, and it definitely kept me on the edge the first time I saw it... What was your opinion?

I was hoping the kiwi would die from the moment she spoke, I didn't pay to see a kiwi in Deathproof... so I was a little disapointed!

Kiwi.............?

Someone from New Zealand

and she was awesome! She's an amazing stuntwoman - she did all Uma's stunts in Kill Bill. The role in Death Proof was written for her specifically.

I left something out... My only real problem with this movie was that it didn't show her get thrown off the car... it was just implied... it got on my nerves because it would have looked awesome to show it

Zoe Bell is so fucking hardcore.... I love her. Death Proof was her first film as an actress. As Rod stated above Quentin wrote the part especially for her after she did Kill Bill.

I thought it was really good and enjoyed it alot, Zoe Bell was really good imo(I'm not sure what her being a kiwi had to do with anything).

Unlike posher, I didn't think it dragged at all, I love Tarantino's dialouge.

That is partly my point, you could tell that the roll was written for her, she was a terrible actress, and besides it seemed like Tarintino was using her as a token in the movie...

Death Proof was a bit of a self-indulgent misfire, since ticket sales plus general critical reception suggest that niched, fanboy obsession does not - unlike the more accessibly stylised and persuasive Kill Bill - make for a sure fire hit.

Convincing modern audiences about outrageously homaged Kung Fu is one thing, but perhaps fortunately the demand for further heavily dated cheese as contemporary entertainment is thin to none.

/\/\ore CGI!

Slow...slow start...would have loved to see another Stuntman Mike attack/victory before the final...I loved it. Edee...didn't care much for it...ok..she said it was "the dumbest crap we've watched this year".
I'm buying it when the actual double disc DEATHPROOF/PLANET TERROR set comes out.

I had read in a review that one particular viewer saw Death Proof itself as two films. A slasher which replaced the iconic knife of the villain with a car and a sequel which happened to be a revenge flick. Interesting take on a movie that was great fun. Unfortuanatly neither of the Grindhouse movies will get a purchase from me until they're released in some sort of set. It's coming, just like MoH...
