Good evening folks!

Welcome to the HDC Awards 2007. I am your host for this rather prestigious event, and we will be having a blast while awarding the best and worst of HDC this past year.

It has been a tumultous 2006-07 in HDC. We have had our fair share of trolls, fights and very good members leaving because of all this. Nevertheless, some of us who chose to stay back, are trying to rebuild this place as the true destination of the horror fan again.

Tonight's Award ceremony is dedicated to the first members of HDC, who joined this place when Horror made it for the first time.

At first I kinda thought that the title of this award was kinda vague...If you think about it, it could mean just about anything...

Member with the best potential to WHAT?, that's what runs through MY mind...I mean, we could have been voting on the member with the best potential to become a serial killer, the member with the best potential to become the president, the member with the best potential to screw Bill Gates out of all of his money and start a wicked, kickass, horror commune for the members of HDC, the member with the best potential to piss people off, the member with the best potential to completely shut down the forum, the member with the best potential to become the next big porn star, the member with the best potential to start world war 3 and POTENTIALLY ring in the apocalypse...Now that I type these possibilities out, I can actually think of some damned good nominees at this forum for ALL of those...HaHaHa...

Oh, wait a minute...Where was I?..OH Yeah, sorry about that *said the tangent queen*

When this year's winner was revealed to me, I immediately KNEW what 'Best Potential' meant here at HDC.

This person started out as a bit of an annoyance, and he took a hell of a lot of flack for it...Did he cry?...Did he rage?...Did he insult everyone in an attempt to give back what he was getting?...Did he say, "Screw you guys, I'm goin' home?"...Did he even whine to the mods?...Most people who have endured the same kind of taunting and duress, have done one, some, or all of those things...But, not this guy...

Instead, he calmly explained that he was new and very young (younger than almost everyone here)...This information was received with a LOT of surprise, because the kid's intelligence had caused everyone to believe that he was much older, which in turn made many think that he was just being an ass when he screwed up, and deserved what was being thrown at him...This revelation helped to quell the angry mob, and prompt them to afford him the patience, leeway and assistance that he needed to get comfortable, learn, and grow with this forum...Until he slowly but surely became quite well-known, loved and respected by our members...And THAT is what potential is all about...He had it then, and he still has it now

So, with much pride, it is my honor to present the award for 2007's Member With The Best Potential to the person who, after starting out as the scraggly, awkward newcomer, has risen through the ranks to create what is probably THE most awesome thread in the history of HDC (seconded only by our Top 100's)...The creator of HDC's one and only perpetually running DAILY soap opera (which, I would like to remind everyone, takes MUCH hard work, imagination and dedication)...Our very own...

This year, the contributions to the forum were immense, especially after the trolls had pretty much wrecked HDC with their daily nonsense and driving many established members away.

One man stood tall...(he actually came back from a hiatus and sporadic appearances)...and made sure that this place was on its road to recovery...

A young man...who contributed a lot to the betterment of the General Section and other sections...who was critical, humorous and serious all at the same time...

Loved by all, adored by many...one of my best friends in HDC...

When I first joined this site many moons ago, I was amazed at the knowledge of some of the posters in the field of all things horror.And none stood out more than this gentleman.And I think I can say gentleman with all confidence. Since I have been here he has become a moderator and a fairer mod you can never ask for..

He has put up with MUCH bullshit, standing alone many times. What with Bloodrayne giving birth, AMC going awol, kpro on a bender, and austin being misplaced by katrina.

he has wielded his sword only when absolutely necessary. he keeps a tight rein on the activitys here and never ask for anything. much like the strong silent hero's of the screen....John Wayne, clint eastwood, charles bronson......only with an english accent.

yes, he is a man of few words but they hold much knowledge and power. I mean some people can talk on and on and on and really have nothing to say...just the same gibberish over and over and over.....they say the same thing time after time after time.....over and over

Keep it up _V_, the tournaments (which are ran until they're COMPLETED) and lists among other things are part of what keeps me coming back.
