My personal take is that theproduction companies were looking to hold out as long as possible in order to increase profits, and they got called on it. I doubt this would spell the doom of the entertainment industry as we know it. On the contrary, it could be an opportunity for things to get shifted. Production comapnies may go for less "uppity" new blood.
Old production companies that have been calling the shots may lose their asses and make way for newer more progressive companies.
Dont think it could happen? Remember, the biggest airlines in the country used to be TWA and Pan-Am. I think TWA is non-existant, and pan am flies charter flights from NH to florida these days.
