Breakdown
I strongly suggest you play this game. The gameplay isn't the best and it can be overly difficult at times but the story is amazing. You can probably find it cheap, and hell, if you have to just play it on the easiest difficulty.

Legacy of Kain
A brilliant story, great gameplay, and one of the best action RPGs not only on the PS1 but of all time. I would easily put it up there with Secret of Mana and Zelda.
