Brian Cox, Anna Paquin, Dylan Baker and Leslie Bibb are set to star in horror film Trick 'r Treat, which Bryan Singer is producing for Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. through his Bad Hat Harry Productions.
Michael Dougherty, who co-wrote Singer's Superman Returns and X2, penned the screenplay for "Trick" and will helm in his directorial debut. Filming begins Thursday in Vancouver.
Singer, intrigued by Dougherty's script, signed onto the project and will be on the set throughout production. The story is set on Halloween night in a town where those who break the rules of the holiday do so at their own peril.
Legendary's Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and William Fey are executive producing with Dougherty and longtime writing partner Dan Harris (X2, Superman Returns). Bad Hat Harry's Alex Garcia also executive produces.
The project reunites Singer with two of his "X-Men" stars, Cox and Paquin.

Beat me to it. :(
Oh well, Ozzy and Gene Simmons would probably be replaced by the lead singers of The Killers and My Chemical Romance.

actually that's a different "trick 'r treat" than the one i'm talking about. the one you're talking about actually has gene simmons and ozzy osbourne in it. i have seen that one before, though.
the one i'm talking about is new and was scheduled for an october 5th release but was pushed back to 2008 sometime.

yeah, those movies are apparently the reason it was pushed back. they didn't want to have to compete with them.
lame.

Helmer-scribe Michael Dougherty's "Trick 'r Treat" will kick off the Screamfest Horror Film Fest on Oct. 10.
Dougherty, who won the fest's animated short award in 2003 for "Deadtime Stories," will be on hand for a Q&A session after the screening.
The Anna Paquin starrer, produced by Bryan Singer, Alex Garcia and Dan Harris, is a tale of gore and mayhem set in a small town on Halloween night.
The horror comedy also co-stars Dylan Baker, Leslie Bibb, Tahmoh Penikett and Brian Cox.
Fest runs Oct. 10-19 at Mann's Grauman's Chinese Theater at LA.

It would appear that Warner Bros.' well-reviewed, oft-delayed horror film Trick 'r Treat will finally get both a theatrical and home video release before Halloween finally rolls back around.
Michael Doughterty's horror anthology will get a limited theatrical release this July, followed by a full-on DVD and Blu-ray release in October.
Specific cities and dates have yet to be announced.
For those unfamiliar with the film – which has gone tragically un-marketed – here's a refresher on the plot:
It is said that Halloween is the night when the dead rise to walk among us and other unspeakable things roam free. The rituals of All Hallows Eve were devised to protect us from their evil mischief, and one small town is about to be taught a terrifying lesson that some traditions are best not forgotten. Nothing is what it seems when a suburban couple learns the dangers of blowing out a Jack-o-Lantern before midnight; four women cross paths with a costumed stalker at a local festival; a group of pranksters goes too far and discovers the horrifying truth buried in a local legend; and a cantankerous old hermit is visited by a strange trick-or-treater with a few bones to pick. Costumes and candy, ghouls and goblins, monsters and mayhem... the tricks and treats of Halloween turn deadly as strange creatures of every variety -- human and otherwise -- try to survive the scariest night of the year.

I saw Trick r Treat at Screamfest back in October and I canot recommend it highly enough. I even dressed my 5 year-old as Sam from the film for Halloween.
It isn't scary, but it has mood & art direction to spare and it really makes you feel like a kid on Halloween night! The whole reason the film has been heldup is that almost everyone who dies is a kid...which makes the film so awesome! It makes trick or treating a dangerous affair!
I love this film to death and want to watch it every October.
