Denton Explains Undead's Absence
James Denton, who stars in the zombie western Undead or Alive: A Zombedy, told SCI FI Wire that he's not sure the public will ever see the movie, which he shot with former Saturday Night Live star Chris Kattan.
"They shopped it around at festivals and such, but no one has picked it up," Denton (Desperate Housewives) said in an interview. "I'm not sure it will ever be out for the public, but it was a real fun way to spend the summer in Canada during my last hiatus."
Previously titled Wanted: Undead or Alive, the film was directed and co-written by Glasgow Phillips (South Park) and was inspired by Scott Pourroy, who did visual effects for Pitch Black and Star Trek: Insurrection.
"It's really a hysterical idea, mixing a western with comedy and zombies, and I never did anything like that in the science fiction realm," Denton said. "I play Chris' partner in the Old West. He's kind of down on his luck, and we end up fighting a lot of zombies." The zombies come to life when a Native American puts a curse on a town.
Denton also stars in the Aug. 25 episode of Masters of Science Fiction, called "The Discarded," along with John Hurt and Brian Dennehy. It's directed by Jonathan Frakes. —Mike Szymanski
