I'm sort of collecting movies in the living dead / zombie style.
Let me know if there are any that I'm missing that are worth taking a look at.
Collected:
~
Night of the Living Dead (1990)
Return of the Living Dead 1, 2 & 3
Day of the Dead
Dawn of the Dead
Rejected (as crap)
~
City of the Living Dead
Working on: (either don't have or haven't seen)
~
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
The Dead Hate the Living
The Video Dead

Didn't like City of the Living Dead huh? Well, then I guess I wouldn't recommend Zombie and The Beyond b/c Fulci directed those two as well.
Check out Cemetery Man and Re-animator.

Hehe, yea City of the Living Dead just was a turn off for me. Just didn't seem to be taken seriously enough to me and that is the worst thing a movie of this style can do I think. I have the same problem with Return of the Living Dead 2. There was so much humor added to it and it just annoyed me. But, oh well I already own the VHS tape :-P.
I'll check those two videos out anyway and the other two you recommended.
Also, getting Braindead, seems to be a pretty popular film.

Yes, Dead Alive is quite good. It has a humorous tone though. Almost moreso than ROTLD 2. So be careful.
last bad move

I love the Tombs of the Blind Dead series and Let Sleeping Corpses Lie. Another one of my faves is Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things. For historical sake, pick up a copy of Invisible Invaders--it's a cheapie MGM double-feature DVD, and it's the first apocalyptic zombie movie. Also check out Dr Blood's Coffin for the first decomposing zombie, and Hammer's Plague of the Zombies for the first scene of zombies crawling from their graves.
I mucho agree with Avenger's pick of Cemetery Man, by the way. And how can anyone not love the most extreme of Euro zoms, Zombi and Burial Ground?!?!?

I forgot about Plague of the Zombies. Good call. Check out The Last Man on Earth as well, even though they are supposed to be vampires. More like zombie/vamps.

Hmm. I got Brain Dead. A bit to unrealistic for me though :-P. I know I know, haha. I just seem to really like a more serious zombie movie.
