Both of these bands have taken heavy influence from horror and in the case of Rob Zombie has directed two modern cult classics (House of 1000 Corpses and The Devils Rejects) so who is better musically in your opinion?

Musically? Where's the option for "They both suck." ?

I'm not really sure how you drew that much of a similarity between the two in the first place. They have completely different sounds and pace...the ONLY thing they really have in common is the electronic side, but even then - One is backtracks and sampling over rock and lyrics, one is in addition synthesized instruments more incorporated into the rock music itself.
The "look" of both are different by far IM0 too...and, rammstein isn't half as horror influenced as zombie seems to be, if at all.
That said, I far prefer Rammstein as opposed to Rob (or white) zombie - even though I don't think the two are in the same league at all. That, and having seen some live rammstein performances, and videoclips...I say that I think, should or would they ever try, rammstein could knock together a far better horror pic than zombie ever could.

I hate both of them.... And zombie's movies were terrible, both of them. However, the only redeeming quality about rammstein was the Blade song.

i actually like Rob Zombie, his music a little better than his movies. i've also been to a concert of his, which was pretty damn awesome.

I like the White Zombie era more as far as music goes, really a lot less electronica in the beginning and with Educated Horses Zombie seems to go back toward rock a bit more. Both Zombie's movies were good and Rammstein uhhh hasn't made any as far as I know. Du Hast was alright when it came out and I have a cool Rammstein shirt with a guy on the front on fire (that every random person seems to comment on) but my vote goes to Zombie. Where's the Apples Vs. Bananas thread?

Their pyro stuff is fuckin' outrageous. Check out their Live Aus Berlin concert on dvd for some of their (IMO) best music, great sets/props, and some awesome pyro.

i know. their last album was ...and justice. which is, incidentally, the tour i saw a gig from at the antrim forum when i was 12 years old. awesome!:) they did okay with load and the black album but nothing like the first four.

I must say, while neither are great, I do prefer Zombie for the fact that my ex-girlfriends favorite song was Du Hast. I don't like much of them anymore. Don't get me wrong though, I do own two of their albums. Plus, I'm more into the music I can sing along with. German, I'm learning, but not really well enough to sing.
But come on, at least lets get a contest of some actual good bands going.

Why does a band as *powerful* as Metallica become so *acoustic* (for want of a better word!!)?
Like they sold-out or something!! I dunno! But yes, the first couple of albums ROCKED!!! :D

It's called changing. I personally don't like their newer stuff but can see why a band would want to try and evolve over time. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but at least they just didn't continue with the same old routine.

Sorry but I have to disagree with you ... Metallica didnt "evolve" they just plain sold out for the almighty doller
Back in the old days they let the music and the loyal fans do the talking, they didnt even make a music video till One came out
Then 10 years later it was all about "radio friendly" albums and music videos for movies (ie Mission Impossible 2) in order to make the quan ... then came the law suits etc etc
I listen to a wide range of music and different genres and bands can change or evolve without losing their edge or selling out (Slayer, Led Zeppelin, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide for example)
And then you have metallica, the misfits, anthrax so on and so forth and to them its all about the bank account ..

They want to be able to make money yes... as do most people on the planet. I really think with some of the albums they tried to work in stuff that they liked.
They just didn't want to be doing heavy metal in their 40s I think...
How does a band "sell out" exactly? It's their talent, their music, and if they want to try something to make their lives better they should go for it. If the music really sucks then nobody will buy it but if they're making money then they're pleasing a lot of people. I listen to a lot of music too and bands are different, some change while others are able to keep to their roots and have long, profitable careers.
Metallica made some great music and made a ton of money, good for them. The law suits and the way they went about everything was stupid but you really can't factor that into how good their music is. Ah well, I like a lot of their older stuff and a little of their newer and while I'd prefer they hadn't changed it doesn't bother me that they did.

Well if you know the history of the band (I was a fan ever since kill em all) going back from day dot they attacked many a band (such as Megadeth to name one) for doing exactly what they are doing today (but are doing on a bigger scale!!)
So if you talk the talk and then 15 years later do exactly the opposite ... well thats selling out my friend.. it was all about the bigger buck and man these guys aint starving ...
They lost MANY MANY loyal fans from back in the day because of this fact ... I'll agree with you on one thing, there is nothing wrong with changing paths as you long as your doing it for the right reason ... ask any hardcore fan from back in the day and see what they tell you ... or better yet ask Jason Newsted why he really left ..

There was a lot more between them and Megadeth (namely Mustaine) then just selling out though. Ah well, "selling out" is really more of a viewpoint, I just think they couldn't rock it anymore. I have every Metallica album from Kill 'Em All to Metallica and I like em' but personally haven't bought anything since. If they come out with something good I'll pick it up and with St. Anger I don't think they got there but it seems like they're headed in a better direction.

Nah.........the Sex Pistols are Punk Rock legends!! :D
The thing is, at least the SP's admitted from the start that they were selling out from the beginning and simply on a bandwagon, *knowing* the fans would make them millions.
Didnt stop them being brilliant and certainly didnt stop the fans from buying their music!!

I believe Danzig was kicked out after a spat between himself and the "big headed" Jerry Only over a cheeseburger!! (correct me if im wrong but thats the story I saw one of the misfits sites)
Anyway go to the wedsite now and you'll see what I mean .... MONEY MONEY MONEY!!
It sort of reminds me of the epsiode of the Simpsons when Krusty was selling his face on everything ... very sad
I love the Misfits but the band was never the same after Danzig
