hey all, i'm a huge metal fan, and i am in a metal band. no offense, but linkin park is without a doubt, not metal. if you want real metal, check out pantera, killswitch engage, black label society, soilwork, damageplan, children of bodom. i could go on forever, but in the meantime, check out some of these bands. i guarantee, you will not be disappointed.

I love metal! =) I hate linkin park. One of my friends got a black eye at a linkin park concert....of course that is to be expected in a mosh pit. Moshing to Linkin park...hummm...I don't know about that one. I don't think anyone on the floor really had a choice to be in it or not - everyone was probably going crazy(like most concerts), I guess I just don't get how you could get that crazy over linkin park. Oh well, its just not my cup of tea - that doesn't mean its wrong though. I've heard people say that moshing is old and that moshers should find a new dance step. I don't get how you could find a new dance step.... theres not much else you could do in the middle of a huge, sweaty, adrenilyne(<---I suck at spelling sometimes) filled crowd of people. What....should everyone just spread out and start doing the tango? Just my two cents.:rolleyes:

In the extremely liberal sense of the word, I guess you could call Linkin Park metal. But then again, so is the pan that an old person has to carry around the nursing home because they can't control their shit reflex. My point is that just because something can be called 'metal' does not mean that it is good.

Mosh pits are all good and fun in my opinion as long as people are just moving to get into the music while maintaining a reasonable amount of respect for others. As with many people, I want to get close to the band but I hate dealing with the people sometimes. Much like I don't want to hear how much bass some asshole in a cadillac has when he cranks the latest 'fiddy cent' album, I'd prefer not to have some fat kids sweaty tits in my face when I'm trying to enjoy the music. :D

Why is everything considered metal if it has screaming and guitars? Linkin Park IS NOT metal.

@SoulEater, if you have so many problems with metal concerts, don't go. Or you could do what I do.

During the bands you don't want to see, go into the fuckin pit. When the band you are there to see is comming up, push your ass to the front. Easy.

Tool is on there as personally, I really like Sober and Parabol/Parabola. Other than that, they're probably my least favourite band on that list. The Sober music video by Fred Stuhr is also a great piece of work, and I really enjoy it.

But yes, overall... Tool is ok. The actually guy in Tool is one messed up dude though.

If you listen to the plethera of metal out there...Tool does not stand in it. Not at all. Maybe several years ago when Metal wasn't that big, but now they're nothing.

Tool is metal. Maybe not your taste in metal, but as Moonsorrow knows, there are many sub-genres of metal.

There could be a whole lot of 'my ass' out there but my ass will never be metal. And just out of curiosity, what do you mean by "out there"? In people's Cd players? Playing at the sweaty shit house down town? On MTV? Just because something doesn't sound like the conglomeration of garbage trying to be 'metal' out there doesn't mean that it fails to achieve 'metal' status itself. I will not disagree with your assertion that Tool is nothing to even mention in passing, but please spare me the useless debate about the definiton of metal. All you're doing is grappling with syntax, and to no consequence.
