You can forget about pre-ordering “Grindhouse” on DVD – well, in the pure sense.

According to Davis DVD, both “Grindhouse” films will be released separately on disc, as is the theatrical plan for everywhere but the states.

The first to be released will be Quentin Tarantino’s “Death Proof”, arriving September 18 through Genius Entertainment and The Weinstein Co.

Assumingly, this will be the longer cut of “Death Proof” that recently premiered at Cannes.

But really, who cares? We want both films. Nobody wants to be shelling out two plods of cabbage for what’s supposed to be one film.

That's odd because Death Proof felt a lot more like a "real" grindhouse film to me.

I am amazed that the film did not create more succes then it did...It got rave reviews and just about everyone I saw thought it was the best flick to come out this year....What I do not understand is why the Weinstein Co. distributed this when they did....There was really no warining or good publicity for this film untill it came out....

But it is not really Weinsten who is at fault, I believe it is Dimension....Dimension has always had this problem from the begining...

Either way, this movie IS the best movie I have seen this year and hopefully they will release it as one...the way it should be seen. :D

Dimension is trying every tactic possible to recoup any money on this
I think everyone can agree on one thing: we'd all much rather see 'Machete' as a full length feature than anything else that happened in all of 'Grindhouse'. 'Don't' was nicely done, 'Planet Terror' fell apart 2/3 of the way in, 'Deathproof' never got started, Rob Zombie continues his reign of 'H1KC' looking nonsense to give his wife a job, and of course Eli Roth proves again that he has no talent as a director.
Dimension could release this as a box set with both features in their full length, uncut versions if they wanted to do right by the fans. I still won't get it myself.

Not everyone...
I loved Planet Terror, I really liked Deathproof, and I dug a lot of the trailers. I want the Grindhouse package. I'd even pay $35 or $40 for a big set with both movies, extended trailers, deleted scenes... it would almost rip my money out of my hands.

machete was a blast and all, but it wasn't my favorite thing about grindhouse. that would either be roths trailer (i hate saying that as much as the rest of his shit disapoints me) or planet terror. hell i loved it all, but death proof, i don't think was as good as planet terror. i don't want to buy just one film i want to buy all of it. so i get the whole grindhouse experience.

and is there any news on any trailers making it to full length film. i would love to see a box set in ten years with grindhouse and all its trailers in full film versions.

That's what they said about seasons of Masters of Horror in R1 and they're coming. It'll happen... eventually. Once the individual DVD sales start to taper off or stop maybe, or maybe even before the next "Grindhouse" double feature. We'll see it, I just doubt it will be very soon.

I m willing to dish out their price for a full package of Grindhouse - Director's Cut / Unrated.

They're just trying to force double dipping.

Watch them get caught with their pants down.

The movie didnt do too well at the box-office anyway, and if they think they can milk the few fans, they are in for a surprise. Sales will hit rock-bottom in no time.

There's no mention of the fake trailers in either package, and that will be one BIG reason, if none other.

Plus those of us who watched it at the theaters and loved it, would never buy it on separate discs.

They'll put all the good fake trailers with Death Proof (which I enjoyed but seemed to be the least impressive to most) and then adds better extras to that one while Planet Terror will be released with less exciting extras but that's ok because the fans seemed to like that one more. Just an option to watch Death Proof, Planet Terror, or both on a DVD with all the extras on the second disc is all I ask. Is that really too much? Like you said, sales will crash if they really keep to their plan.

Just do what I did and create your own "Grindhouse" DVD box (just take the inserts out of a regular DVD and create your own from Grindhouse posters and art you can find online), download a copy, and put them in the DVD box. No way am I shelling out money for the separate films, I want Grindhouse, not Planet Terror and Death Proof.

I wanted to see both these films, I really did.
When I heard they were set to get released seperately in cinemas, I thought, well ok...the movie joints probably just wanna make more cash, but still I thought I'd wait for the dvd hopefully released in the intended original format.
Now I don't get the dvd either?
What of the supposed intermissions and "fake" trailers and all those things promised when this was still an upcoming thing? Not there either I suppose.

All the same...they probably didn't have to sell out in this way if they really didn't want to. If they decide to eventually do the right thing in terms of future dvd releases, I may just check it out then...hell, I'd even pay double the cost of a standard dvd movie...til then, whatever.

 FUCK  I did get to see the sneak preview @ the theater, and it was amazing. For those greedy fucks The Weinsteins to release 2 Dvds is blasphemy. They are also being released on different dates.

Whatcha bet they do release THE WHOLE FILM after they release them separately. Too make more $$$$$$.

Yes but "Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair" is coming out in december i believe if not december its january i cant remember which one. So give it a few years and combined version will come out more than likely right after you break down and buy both of them and give up holding out on a combined version. Becuase that alwasy seems to be the way it happens to me. -_-

I heard about this, its getting released as two seperate movies here in england in the cinema (if its coming to cinema). I was talking to my friend about grindhouse, saying I doubt they'd ever release it as the two movies in one go as I cant see Joe Public going to a 2 movie long show.

Sounds like it didnt do too well in cinemas in the US and its probably because people were put off. True horror fans, or fans of Tarantino etc would go, but they'd lose lots of average cinema go-ers.

Death Proof and Planet Terror will be coming to DVD in September and October respectively. They will both be 2-Disc Special Editions, with Extended and Unrated cuts of the films. NEITHER DVD WILL FEATURE FAUX TRAILERS. Edgar Wright confirmed that these will be saved for a future special edition of the film - possibly the original cut with both films together.

Along with the 2-Disc Special Editions, exclusive editions will be released to various stores in the form of Steelbooks. Much like The Departed and 300 steelbooks. These will most likely be carrid by Best Buy, and it has been reported that there will be a third disc with this release - what it contains is unknown, but it will not be the trailers.

You can tell it didnt make much money...They are releasing them seperately, as special editions. Then they are thinking of releasing both in one along with the trailers another time. Just release it like that in the first place for fuck sake!

I'm so annoyed at this movie, it hadn't started in Australia when I left, but when I got to the U.K it had finished showing, now this shit with the DVD!wwwwwhat the Fuck!

XtRaVa
08-24-2007, 06:49 AM
Huh? It never came out in the cinema in UK...or did it!? All I know is that its being released seperately, starting Sept 21st. What a shit load of fuck.

Disease
08-24-2007, 09:18 AM
Realy, didn't it come out in the U.K, I thought it Must have because I sore movie posters for sale in HMV, maybe it never came out in Australia either, I know they pushed the date back....

XtRaVa
08-24-2007, 09:31 AM
If it came out in the cinema over here, I'm pretty sure I'd of known about it.

As far as I'm aware, it still might come out in the cinema here as two seperate movies, however considering the apparent international release date of the first DVD is 21st of Sept I can see it just being a straight to DVD to release over here.

Either way. What a shit load of fuck.

I think that them releasing them at different times will push people away from the films even more.Yes they did do bad at the box office, but they were excellent films.I think I'll just wait til they release them both on the same dvd before I pick them up, but I will give them a rent just to see them again.
