Rubbish. Of course, someone from (or working on behalf of) one of the companies available to outsource work to would do nothing but sing the praises of this idea, but coming from a country that has experienced the resulting LOSS in quality to all outsourced customer service, marketing and product information/sales insustries due to outsourcing to india, malaysia, the phillipines...etc, I don't buy into this at all.
Cheap prices, sure.
Total lack of first-hand knowledge of resources and products, not to mention cultural aspects outside their own, definately. I've had someone from India who could barely speak english try to sell me a telecommunications package that wasn't even available to my country, and when I asked out of interest where they were calling from, I was answered "Melbourne", even when my phone had registered an overseas call. GREAT insudtry knowledge and service there...not to mention the initial assumption that I was racist enough to let where they were calling from effect my decision.
Not saying this is always the case, but many a company here has suffered a hit to their reputation from their initial "savings", and are actually turning back to their local assets and resources, finding that the replacement was only bad...in terms of time, cost, and customer dissatisfaction... for their business in the first place.
I mean c'mon...the fact you're bringing this message to a HORROR forum speaks volumes about the cluelessness of those involved.

Suggestion to all who read this - Keep your business local. The quality and efficiency is worth a few dollars more, many do not see this until it is gone...it's a sad story.
Technical colleges overseas ARE of good quality, but it takes more than certification gained elsewhere to qualify, and this shows.

Sorry, but none of this matters - cos the same is happening to alot of people in the western zone. Are there any jobs left for the long-term citizens of other countries? Other than IT, IT, IT, IT, IT, IT. (Check out the majority of tv adverts for bettering oneself in life, job wise!!). And what does IT involve in many jobs today?

A sound knowledge of Word, SpreadSheet, Publisher, Stock Control, PAYE - blah de blah.
Basic shit - nothing exceptional.

If you are worrying about the indians or asians taking over the IT jobs - let them have them - cos thats all that is left. We dont have a substantial education system anymore, we dont have fear of authority anymore, we dont have a voice as a majority anymore...........

That sounds all good..
this is why these students are promised high paying jobs over seas once they have completed these courses..
they also are charged a high fee..only to come to the western worlds and discover there credits hold no merit over here so end up busting thier asses
working in supermarkets or driving taxi's.
BUT..em not one to knock any other countries efforts..
