I am definitely looking forward to it. Besides being a huge Batman fan since childhood, I am really fascinated by Christian Bale. Also, Heath Ledger as Joker and Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent (later Two-Face)...Plus, it will be partly filmed in IMAX...o boy this is gonna be good!
Here are some recent stills from the movie set...

All directors promise that their sequels will be bigger and flashier than the predecessors'. But Christopher Nolan doesn't mess around.
The director's sequel to Batman Begins -- The Dark Knight -- will become the first feature film to be partly shot in the IMAX format, an expensive and cumbersome process that typically is the province of documentaries and short films.
Nolan will shoot four action sequences — including the introduction of The Joker, played by Heath Ledger — on IMAX. The move is one of Hollywood's most pronounced steps yet in its embrace of IMAX theaters, which are increasingly showing commercial fare on their giant screens.
'There's simply nothing like seeing a movie that way,' Nolan says. 'It's more immersive for the audience. I wish I could shoot the entire thing this way.'
'Batman has some of the most extraordinary characters in pop culture. We wanted The Joker to have the grandest entrance possible.'
***POSSIBLE SPOILERS***
* The Bat-cycle WILL be in the film, and will look similar to the Tumbler style-wise. They have built ten of these for various purposes.
* They are planning on having the Bat-cycle "emerge" from the Tumbler. The use of CGI may be incorporated to make it happen.
* Two Lamborginis were provided for the film and will be completely destroyed during filming.
* "Whether official or not, The Joker's get-away vehicle is always referred to as 'The Clown Car,' and there are several of these built...it may have a few tricks up its sleeve."
* Nothing yet about a "new" Batmobile.
Thats it, for now!

all great apart from IMO the joker's image. I know they want to show a darker side to him but i really dont feel anything for that. It just looks...too dark. (At least it isn't too light like joel schumacher would have liked.) I don't think I can see ledger topping nicholson for the joker. But then, nicholson is one of the best actors to play insane people of our time.

Problem with Nicholson was he wasnt really that great as the Joker. He wasnt dark enough. The Joker is a sadistic killer. THat wasnt shown in the original Batman. I doubt Ledger will give justice to the greatest comic villian

Spawn is about to clash with Batman.
Proficient martial-artist and actor Michael Jai White ("Spawn", "Undisputed II : Last Man Standing") has joined the cast of the WB’s new "Batman" movie.
In "The Dark Knight", says MTV Movies Blog, White plays a mobster named Gamble.
Says abovementioned site, “Gamble is one of several mob bosses attempting to take over Gotham’s streets now that Carmine Falcone (Tom Wilkinson in the first ‘Batman’ flick) is out of the picture. As “Dark Knight” opens, Batman and Jim Gordon must decide whether to focus their energy on aspiring thugs like Gamble, or the homicidal Joker (Heath Ledger), a costumed anarchist bank robber.”
Rapper David Banner was also under contention for the part of Gamble, but White could kick higher - - - or something.
White is of course best known for playing the title role in the 1997 comic turned film "Spawn".
Meantime, speaking of all things Caped Crusader, IGN asked Christian ‘Batman’ Bale whether he’ll be taking part in the upcoming Justice League movie. According to the one-time American Psycho, he’d indeed be keen to kick it with Superman, Aquaman and Wonder Woman in the one film.
“It's like I was saying to Chris [Nolan] -- I'll be probably doing this in dinner theater somewhere in my 50s, so I won't knock it. Because who knows where I'll end up?"

A couple of weeks ago it was reported that Anthony Michael Hall (Farmer Ted, Johnny Smith) was playing some non-specific criminal in the next “Batman” movie...
Well, seems that’s not quite right. The dude not only has a name…he has a name that “Batman” fans will most definitely recognize.
Hall could actually playing ‘The Riddler’ in “The Dark Knight”.
They could be right, but it seems a little silly adding another villain to the mix. After all, we’re going to have not only The Joker in the new film but also Two-Face. The last thing Chris Nolan wants it to have, is to have a “Spider-Man 3” on his hands.
Then again... Hall’s character will only be known as Mr. Edward Nygma in the film – and we won’t necessarily see him as ‘The Riddler’… so its possible. It is assumed that we won't see the character in full villain form until the next sequel, at least.
If this is indeed the case, then The Riddler and Two-Face will be the villains of the next movie…sound familiar?

It may seem a little early to be worrying about a third Batman movie while the second one is still filming, but if Batman Begins has taught us anything about Christopher Nolan it’s that he plans ahead. Batman Begins set the stage for The Dark Knight, with references to the appearance of the Joker in the next film. It’s likely that Nolan will do the same thing with The Dark Knight in setting up a third Batman sequel, and we have a surprising bit of information on who may show up in it.
One of our most reliable, long time scoopers just sent us the following tidbit: “Word is that Heath Ledger could be coming back in the next sequel which will have Two Face as the main villain.” In Batman Begins, the movie’s main bad guy was dead by the time the film was over. Ledger plays the Joker in The Dark Knight and if this is true then it means that he may end up surviving to torment Batman again. Assuming Heath is any good as Mr. J, I like the idea of Joker sticking around in the background of future film, making life miserable for Bats. He is after all, his chief nemesis. It makes sense for him to keep haranguing Bats.
Even more exciting than the idea that we may get the Joker in more than one movie is the identity of another villain who may be in Batman 3. According to our source, “it could also include a certain female feline as well.” Bear in mind that the script for Batman 3 hasn’t been written yet, so it’s all just talk at this stage. But if this really is something Nolan is kicking around for a future Batman project, then don’t be surprised to see a few hints at the future arrival of Catwoman in The Dark Knight.

If he sticks with the influence of Long Halloween and Year One, there should be some hint of Selina Kyle being out there. I was hoping that Nolan would get closer to Long Halloween, which a Two Face based sequel would show the influence of. It's cool that he might not kill off the Joker, because Batman's rogue's gallery members are never one shot deals. The Scarecrow is still out there at the end of Begins, in spite of the puzzling and lame demise of Ra's Al Ghul.

Bring on TDK, just seeing the pics makes me want to see it more. Batman Begins is the best of all the films that have been made. Bale is the perfect Wayne/Batman. Even better than Keaton was. I'm sure TDK will trump Batman Begins, if Ledger can pull off The Joker.

September 17, 2007 - Oscar nominated actor Heath Ledger has gone on-camera to talk about playing The Joker in director Christopher Nolan's forthcoming Bat-sequel, The Dark Knight.
In a videotaped interview with Allocine.fr, Ledger said, "The Joker, so far, is definitely the most fun I've had with any character. He's just out of control. He has no empathy. He's a sociopath, psychotic, mass-murdering clown. And I'm just thoroughly, thoroughly enjoying it. It's exceeded any expectations I've had in terms of what the experience would be like. So it will be interesting."

September 24, 2007 - Oscar winner Michael Caine has reportedly gone on record about Heath Ledger's portrayal of The Joker in the Bat-sequel The Dark Knight.
Batman-on-Film.com, citing The Melbourne Herald Sun and The Mercury, quotes Caine as saying that Ledger has beaten the odds and topped Jack Nicholson's much-ballyhooed performance as the Clown Prince in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman.
"He's gone in a completely different direction to Jack. Jack was like a clown figure, benign but wicked, maybe a killer old uncle. He could be funny and make you laugh," Caine said of Ledger (a MINOR SPOILER follows). "Heath is like a really scary psychopath. I did one scene with him and he was ready to go and had to come up in a lift and raid our place."
Caine recalled, "I didn't see him for rehearsal and when he came out of the lift he was so incredible I forgot my lines. He frightened the life out of me. ... I'd never met him before. He's a lovely guy and his Joker is going to be a hell of a revelation in this picture."

I read that an FX artist died on the set today (Tuesday 9-25) in an accident related to the Batmobile.
Very true.
This confirms it :-
"A crew member working on The Dark Knight was killed Monday during the making of the Bat-sequel. The name of the deceased has not been released, but he has been identified as a camera operator.
According to The BBC, the accident happened off-set at a test track in Longcross in Surrey. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) informed the press that the accident occurred during a "filming production exercise."
The technician was riding in a camera vehicle, said to be a 4x4, that was following the Batmobile during a stunt test run. A statement from Warner Bros. said: "There was a fatal accident at a special effects facility for Batman: The Dark Knight. A technician on the film died when the truck he was in struck a tree following a test run. Warner Bros Pictures and the entire cast and crew of The Dark Knight are deeply saddened by this tragedy, and their hearts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased."

October 10, 2007 - The next trailer for The Dark Knight will reportedly debut around December, possibly attached to the release of another Warner Bros. picture, I Am Legend, which opens Dec. 14.
Batman-on-Film.com was "told that there's a chance that it could premiere online via TDK's viral marketing campaign as the teaser was released last summer (July at Comic Con)."
The site also claims a one-sheet for the Christopher Nolan-directed sequel is expected soon and that it won't merely be the Bat-logo seen on the official film site.
In other Bat-news, Christian Bale has spoken to KeysiKFM.com about how the fighting style used in Batman Begins -- Keysi Fighting Method -- will differ in The Dark Knight.
"We've gone a bit further with Keysi...I'm actually learning how to do it more realistically than ever before, though it's such an extreme way of fighting," Bale revealed. "There are literally moves where you tear someone's cheek away from their face, or rip their nose off."

November 7 2007
Director Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight has been filming on location in Hong Kong, but it appears that local businesses and residents aren't exactly greeting the Bat-sequel with open arms.
Batman was subjected to a blackout by Hong Kong companies after appealing to them to leave their lights on for filming of the movie The Dark Knight, a news report said Wednesday. Letters were sent to 60 companies with waterfront properties appealing to them to leave their lights switched on from 5 pm to midnight so that the Hong Kong skyline would be dazzling in the Warner Bros shoot. But 80 percent of the companies approached ignored the request and switched their lights out at the end of the working day as usual, the South China Morning Post reported.
This news comes on the heels of an earlier report that claimed a major river stunt had to be canceled due to water pollution, a story which a source called "mostly inaccurate" with "only a small bit of truth" to it.
Hong Kong residents aren't the only ones not too keen on The Dark Knight, which co-stars Heath Ledger as the Joker. Oscar winner Jack Nicholson, who played the Joker in Tim Burton's 1989 blockbuster Batman, expressed his disappointment about the film. "They never asked me about a sequel with the Joker. I know how to do that! Nobody ever asked me," Nicholson said. "It's like, in any area, you can't believe the reasons things do or don't happen. Not asking me how to do the sequel is that kind of thing. Maybe it's not a mistake. Maybe it was the right thing, but to be candid, I'm furious."
The superstar added, "I'm not inclined to watch (The Dark Knight) because of what I said. But if it's a good movie, I'll catch up with it somewhere."

Caught it last night. Hated Batman:Begins, but Heath Ledger makes me feel like giving Nolan permission for his baffling, oft intrusive realism. Christian Bale remains slgithly uneven and the Maggie Gyllenhaal character is written roadkill flat, but the whole effect is brilliant. I don't think anybody was on the fence about seeing it, but if somebody happens to be and comes upon this thread, I definitely say go for it. Recommended wholeheartedly. Gary Oldman and Aaron Eckhardt are incredible. Heath Ledger is undisputed emperor of this movie and deserves it. Highest accolades from me.

FRIDAY 7AM: Warner Bros is well on its way to making Hollywood history this weekend. That's because its opening comic book caper The Dark Knight is already on its way to breaking records left and right today even as it's still sparking a ticket-selling frenzy across North America. I've just been told that the latest Batman installment's midnight shows broke the record of $16 million set by Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith. "Over $17 million, and still counting," my insider says this morning. I should have final midnight numbers soon. Across North America, theater owners are working feverishly to squeeze in more screenings to meet voracious moviegoer demand. (Photo by Jim Stevenson of audiences arriving at Hollywod's Arclight Theater for the first showing of Dark Knight.)
Fandango, the largest online ticketseller, has just announced that Dark Knight has jumped to No. 2 on its Top 10 List of Advance Ticket-Sellers. The service is now selling an average of nearly 10 tickets per second for the pic during peak periods, an extraordinary figure which underscores Hollywood's belief that not just the individual but also the overall 3-day non-holiday box office record is going down this weekend.
Top 10 Advance Ticket-Sellers list from Fandango.com:
1. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005)
2. The Dark Knight (2008)
3. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
4. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)
5. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (2007)
6. Hannah Montana 3D (2008)
7. Lord Of The Rings: Return of the King (2003)
8. Spider-Man 3 (2007)
9. Sex And The City (2008)
10. The Passion Of The Christ (2004)

No shit.
After all the hype and marketing and Ledger's death, I was so ready to bash this movie for not living up to critics' and comic-fans' expectations!
Boy...was I wrong! :D

I was with a huge group of friends. Leaving the theater not one of us didn't say "That was the best movie I've ever seen."
Here's hoping it takes the O.W. record from Spider-Man 3, because I hate to see that movie #1 on any list, other than best cameo.

*****Super Spoiler Alert*****
The cop in the interrogation room.
and
"I am going to make this pencil disappear!"
*****End of super spoiler*****
I really enjoyed the shit outta this one. This is the first movie I decided to go and see on opening night in over probably 10 year or something like that. What made the whole experience for me that much better, is that there were NO children running around, and no small babies screaming. No distractions at all from the crowd, which is pretty much a fucking first for me, in a theatre... ESPECIALLY on opening night.
Though I must say I much prefer Katie Holmes in the role of Rachel, to Maggie Gyllenhaal. I think Maggie's pretty rough to look at, actually.... It looks like her face is smashed in, and she looks much older than I am sure she is. Just not attractive at all, and her performance wasn't any better or worse than Holmes', I didn't think.
Other than that, am I the only one who thinks that Aaron Eckhart looks almost exactly like Thomas Jane? I SWORE it was Tom Jane playing Two-Face! Boy was I wrong! And whatta great character, and acting job he did as Harvey Dent. I was a bit disappointed with his ultimate demise, I was thinking they'd save him for a 3rd film.
Gary Oldman as the commissioner did a helluva job in this too. Much more prominent in this movie, as compared to Begins, and I really got behind him. Helluva job here.
Also absolutely LOVED Bale once again as Wayne/Batman. FUCK Michael Keaton, FUCK Val Kilm, FUCK George Clooney, FUCK Adam West - Christian Bale OWNS this character IMO. Kick-ass, innovative action scenes, sweet gadgets galore, and great character development.
Heath Ledger's final performance turns out to be his absolute GREATEST one as well. Just ridiculous how this guy transformed himself into this looney, likeable, maniacal, insane, twisted, masochistically gleeful individual. He really made this movie for me.... I was smiling ANY and EVERY time he was on the screen.... When he wasn't on the screen, I was anticipating when I'd next see him. Of course that didn't stop me from enjoying the rest of this film though.
This movie was awful long, but I can't complain. I think this is probably the BEST comic book movie out there... It'd be a toss-up between this, X2, Spider-man 1 and Superman Returns. They're all fucking FANTASTIC in my mind.
If you're not a fanboy, and have been thinking about seeing this.... Just do yourself a favour and do it. I was on the fence about it before today.... But I bought into all the hype, and the movie more than outdid itself in being an immensely enjoyable time at the theatre! :)

Dark Knight was great and I wholly recommend it but maybe you and your buddies need to see some more movies. ;)
I've said it before and I'll say it again, do NOT miss the IMAX showing of this. It was such a beautiful experience, the visuals are impossible not to love.

Then stop watching movies now, just watch that one piece over and over again until the fanboy in you dies of overstimulation. ;)
