everyone...one of my favourite shows, JERICHO has been cancelled....if you've not yet seen it, try and download a few episodes...it's well worth it...Fans of the show, you already know this.
Anyhow, I don't know if these things ever go anywhere, but I assume the more numbers, the higher the likelihood...head on over and show some support - http://www.petitiononline.com/09272006/petition.html
...and hope for good things.
Spread the message on any boards you post at, if you've the time.
Thanks.

Petitions do nothing Phalanx. Shows get cancelled, it is the nature of the beast. Very rarely do they bring shows back on air after cancelling, most notably Family Guy, but that was only due to insane DVD purchases and success on cartoon network in reruns.

Phalanx, you know I'm right there with ya on the Jericho train! I've already signed that petition using every single email address I have (There are lots.)
I'm absolutely furious about this! I wonder how the hell can they cancel the most creatively grim, well written, well acted, and flat out BEST drama on network television after only 1 season! (Actually, I don't wonder, I already know. Here's how... Jericho started off last September pulling in 11 million viewers per week which was respectable. Then the execs put the show on a 10 week hiatus over the holiday season. When it returned to the air it's time slot was head to head with American Idol which was already in full swing and it's viewers dropped to 8 million a week. CBS sited the drop in ratings, failing to realize they were 100% responsible for the drop, as the reason for canceling the show.)
Anyways, I'm pissed too. Have been for a few days now. And to think the first season just ended with one of the best cliff hangers ever. This has been my myspace profile picture since I heard the news....

That petition isn't the only thing happening though. There is a HUGE public outcry about this. In addition to the petition, there's thousands of phone calls, emails and faxes that CBS is getting bombarded with, the CBS message boards about the show are several hundred pages deep with complaints, and there is an online campaign pooling money to send the suits at CBS thousands and thousands of pounds of peanuts or 'NUTS' for short. If you watch the show, you realize the significance of saying 'Nuts' to CBS. The Nuts campaign will likely begin getting some coverage on national media news channels today or tomorrow due to a seperate capaign to make channels like CNN & FoxNews aware of it.
And if you don't think there's a chance that CBS will budge, consider this... Since they canceled the show and have been bombarded with the public's discontent in just about every form imaginable, they first said they will make an effort to "let the fans know how it would have ended", but that wasn't acceptable and the complaints continued to mount. As recently as last night, I read that CBS is now considering a 2 hour long series finale to give the show some closure. While that'd be better than nothing, the unhappy fans aren't going to accept anything less than a 2nd season before the complaints cease.
I never saw the show but, hell....i'll sign it. The unfortunate thing is todays public want to watch these foolish "reality" shows instead of a well acted , thoughtful drama.

Kid Nation. It's a reality show where 40 kids attempt to form a society.

Public outcry does nothing. It is all about the money. Jericho did not have great ratings from what I remember. Bad ratings equal lower prices for advertising. You want to save Jericho, instead of making pointless petitions and spamming message boards, tell people to watch the show and push up the ratings. That is all they will listen to.

omg that kid thing sounds like tripe........people will watch whatever they show.........
but they would prefer to show low cost shows........Jericho's last episode left open so many avenues and unanswered questions........
best drama in years

That's very true. If people aren't watching, there's no chance for a show.
I have never seen this show, only heard of it very recently. I think another problem is networks are far too quick to axe a show before it has any time to prove itself. Network don't give people a chance to discover a show they might enjoy, as I mentioned in another thread, FOX is very bad about this. They have switched schedules around where you can't find shows, shown episodes out of order in some cases, and often cancel shows without even airing 10 episodes, much less a full season.....
CBS was responsible for cancelling Now and Again, the bastards..... So I will sign it and try to catch some of the show, since it seems to be well thought of. But I doubt it will do any good, if not enough people were watching, it won't be saved. It seems the more intelligent a show is, the less chance it has f surviving....wonder why that is....

Seriously...I don't watch television anymore...I haven't for years (except for a few Adult Swim shows)...But, I feel for your plight...The shows I liked, ALWAYS got cancelled...I think Tru Calling was the last one I was starting to get into, when they axed it...It's been that long since I watched network television

Yeah the whole petition thing, I haven't a great deal of faith for it's effectiveness...but hey, I guess I'm holding out with some kinda hope there.
One of their writers said that they'll try to do "something" to put some kind've closure to the jericho story, that there could be as good as it gets, if THAT happens...maybe a "movie" or a few more episodes taped on the ass-end of the dvd boxset...because seriously, if we've senn all we're going to, it's a dvd I won't be buying otherwise.

Here's the latest. This morning, CBS will be receiving another 4500 pounds of peanuts. That will put their total nuts received in the mail since canceling the show somewhere around 11,000 pounds. The pool for tomorrow's shipment is currently at 2500 pounds.
Here's a link to the website ni case anyone wants to order some nuts and send them CBS. There's some funny pictures too of the pallets and pallets & truckloads of peanuts they are shipping out to CBS.

June 5, 2007 - Jericho fans, the news you've been not only hoping for, but working awfully hard for (based on all the nuts CBS is receiving) may be on the verge of happening. Multiple sources, including TV Guide's Michael Ausiello, are saying CBS is extremely close to resurrecting Jericho for a second season.
In the past month, since the show's cancellation, there has been a huge outcry from fans, including an organized campaign in which fans sent thousands of nuts to CBS headquarters as a sign of solidarity for the series, about life in a small Kansas town after a nuclear attack on America. Apparently CBS was paying attention, as TV Guide and E! are among the outlets saying they are hearing from well placed sources that Jericho may now be renewed and return with new episodes.
Ausiello says he's hearing that the show could return for at least eight episodes, to possibly air mid-season next year. He adds that matters that might need to be dealt with to make this happen could include signing the cast to new deals, and possibly finding new soundstages for the series, as the previous stages may now be occupied by new shows.
A recent comment left by CBS President Nina Tassler on the CBS message boards hinted at something more for Jericho fans, as she said they wanted to provide "closure" for the series, which ended with many unresolved plotlines. Speculation about the form this closure would take has included mentions of a TV movie or miniseries to wrap the story up, but an actual renewal for the show was deemed highly unlikely until now.

they just dont know how to end it.

Well, in all fairness since it probably wasn't the producers/directors actual intention to end it so soon, they didn't exactly have anything planned out...
Well...this is good news...8 eps. would be fine...of course, a whole season, better...if there's some form of resolution, that's all good.
Who would've thought...

To the Fans of Jericho:
Wow!
Over the past few weeks you have put forth an impressive and probably unprecedented display of passion in support of a prime time television series. You got our attention; your emails and collective voice have been heard.
As a result, CBS has ordered seven episodes of "Jericho" for mid-season next year. In success, there is the potential for more. But, for there to be more "Jericho," we will need more viewers.
A loyal and passionate community has clearly formed around the show. But that community needs to grow. It needs to grow on the CBS Television Network, as well as on the many digital platforms where we make the show available.
We will count on you to rally around the show, to recruit new viewers with the same grass-roots energy, intensity and volume you have displayed in recent weeks.
At this time, I cannot tell you the specific date or time period that "Jericho" will return to our schedule. However, in the interim, we are working on several initiatives to help introduce the show to new audiences. This includes re-broadcasting "Jericho" on CBS this summer, streaming episodes and clips from these episodes across the CBS Audience Network (online), releasing the first season DVD on September 25 and continuing the story of Jericho in the digital world until the new episodes return. We will let you know specifics when we have them so you can pass them on.
On behalf of everyone at CBS, thank you for expressing your support of "Jericho" in such an extraordinary manner. Your protest was creative, sustained and very thoughtful and respectful in tone. You made a difference.
Sincerely,
Nina Tassler
President, CBS Entertainment
P.S. Please stop sending us nuts :-)

Anyone intereseted in watching Jericho when it reruns this summer and seeing what all the fuss was all about, mark your calendars...
Jericho will return July 6.
The series pilot will air 9 o'clock, which becomes the drama's summer time slot.
The next week, on July 13, CBS will air a recap of the first 11 episodes at 8 p.m. Then episode 12 will air at 9. For the rest of the summer, CBS will repeat the last 12 episodes.
Then Season 2 starts in September or something. I HIGHLY recommend this show to everyone here.
