In light of recent events..i just thought i would bring this up.
Today (having no life and all)..i watched an episode of oprah in which she identified 35 female teachers who had sexual relationships with one or 2 of thier students...some as young as 13.
Many of these teachers became pregnant and after spending a short time in prison ..were released on certain bail conditions and had to enlist on public record as a sex predator...had thier babies and carried on with thier lives.
Some of the students involved appeared on the show and gave thier versions of events and in most cases..the scenario was the same..the teacher lured them into a sexual relationship and because of thier age..thought themselves to be cool for being invited to freely hav 1st time sex with an adult woman.
Now the teachers excuses were..'oh i wasn't happy' or 'i was at the lowest point in my life' etc.
My point is this..these females are not classed as paedophiles..just sexual predators ..therefore will be able to work again in the schooling system..if they married and had a name change.
What is the difference between their status as to that of a male who does the same thing.??

that's very worrying. My cousin had underage sex and says it was the biggest mistake of his life. He lost his virginity to a girl he barely knew and now that he's 18, says he wishes he has waited and made it right, with his long term girlfriend who he has real feelings for. Not just lust. That's why if I was approched by a teacher, no matter how appealing, I woudn't do anything and would go straight to the police.

The problem is these women are not even really considered sexual predators. Society as a whole do not really look down on these women. An older woman having sex with a younger man, no one bats an eye, because if she can screw a younger male, she must be hot. In the reverse, an older male having sex with a younger woman is sick and disgusting. Why? Because men by society as a whole are looked as protectors, while women are seen as weak and needing love and attention. These perceptions are far from true but are still held

Teacher Pamela Rogers Turner received a 9 month active sentence for having sex with a 13 year old. After Turner is released from jail, she will be on supervised probation for the rest of an eight-year suspended sentence. The judge also ordered her to surrender her teaching certificate and said she would be registered as a child sex offender. The sentence prohibits her from profiting from the case and does not allow interviews.
Ray Cannup used the internet to solicit sex from a 21 year-old police officer pretending to be a 13 year old. he was arrested and charged with a sex crime and sentenced to 3 years in prison.

weak judges shouldn't be judges at all. Judges who judge by appearance as apposed to crime are disgusting and should be thrown in jail themselves.

Until society changes and starts truly treating the actions of men and women equal, the laws will not be the same. Men are treated better in the work environment, but the laws are much more severe for them.

It's strange. Women are always saying how much better and stronger than men they are but they still enforce the "You can't hit a girl or you're gay" rule. Aren't they calling themselves weaker in doing that.

Ferret, it is human nature to take advantage of perceptions and social standards. Not all but some women will use things such as you dont hit a woman to their advantage. Same thing with the old standard of paying for dinner or opening doors. It is a double standard but men do the same thing. It is human nature which is why things will probably never change

It could be phallic issue. Males are seen to 'give' sex, while females 'receive' it - at least in 'abusive' cases. Men have more 'tools' for abuse, at least concerning traditional 'rape'.
Would the 'Miss Teacher Bangs a Boy' episode of South Park have been accepted if it were the other way around, instead based on a real life case of a male teacher in relations with a female minor?
Doubtful. Justified?
Most def a double standard. Hell having sex with an older woman has even been glamorized and romanticized in print and movies [Summer of 42 for instance].

As a teacher myself..i found that crushes were easily forthcoming from
the male students and i don't care what excuses these teachers use..
they were placed in a position of trust.
Its an all too common occurence within this field now..we have 2 such cases pending here in NZ (one male..one female)
but the male teacher has been charged with sex with a minor..
the female staff member was relocated into another district. 'shrugs'

I can't understand how ANYONE could view a child as a sexual pursuit...Male OR female
My son is 12 and it's completely inconceivable that he could have sex in a year or two...There's just NO way
Absolutely fucking disgusting...These people should be shot no matter what their gender is

I am appaulled that this has been happening so frequently, or rather we are finding out about it more frequently. It is disgusting and I totally agree with BR.
Did you guys watch To Catch A Predator on Dateline at all? Well it just blew my mind that these guys would mention to the people chatting with them online about the show and then still take the chance to go meet with some young girl or boy. And then the bullshit excuses they would come up with. Just sickening.
Just WTF is wrong with people.

when i was at school if me or any of my friends had've 'done' one of the hot teachers it would've been high fives all round. sex means nothing to men regardless of age whereas the fairer more vulnerable sex have a lot more physical and emotional implications to think about. regardless, as stubborn says its the abusive of trust and exploitation of a minor. it'd be interesting to hear what the male victims think when they're all growed up:confused:

I can see how some teenaged boys may think that way...BUT...
What about the other side?...How in the HELL can any ADULT (much less a teacher or any person placed in a position of trust) look at these kids and think "Whoa he's/she's sexy"?...That's just too fucked up
It seems almost okay for a teenaged boy to think that 'sex with an older woman' is "cool"....But, how can any adult think that sex with a kid is "cool"?
Adults know better
And how pathetic does an adult have to be that they have to target kids (who are much more easily cajoled) to have sex with?...Can't they get a date with an ADULT?...And if they are aware that no adult would wanna touch them does that then make them think it's okay to force themselves on children because otherwise they wouldn't get laid at all?
I just don't get it...And the whole thing makes me feel like I'm gonna puke....I have kids, and I swear to god...I'd kill someone...

but nowadays, especially since here in england (may be the same in america, i don't know) viagra is sold over the counter. No prescription needed. There have several instances where the woman has force fed the man viagra. Also, the male body will prepare itself if it see's a fit naked woman, whether wanted or not. But anyway, gender is just the body. What the mind does with that body has nothing to do with their gender and should all be treated harshly. If only capital punishment was legal here in England. But now it isn't even for treason.

i suppose every case has to be judged on its own merits. can't just have a one rule fits all setup that results in capital punishment. this is one of those debates that always stirs up emotion, like abortion or homosexual marriage etc, etc. hang 'em all and let god sort 'em out:D :D

As a junior high teacher, I can safely say that I have never seen a 13 or 14-year-old (those are the ages I teach) boy and thought of him as sexy or desirable. Normally I can't see him as anything but annoying. Not a very professional attitude I know, but I don't think it's one that'll have my mugshot plastered all over the 10 o'clock news either.

But theres a difference between looking at and thinking of as sexy and doing something. Heck I've looked at most people at one point and thought they were fit (term for sexy in UK) but didn't act. When it comes down to it, would you have ever acted upon this feeling?

Shit..i had enough trouble with junior lanners who had multiple crushes on me,
just imagine a bunch of 16/17 year olds who would follow me around a whole complex for 72 hours.
In between these hours while trying to sleep..i would always open my eyes and
find them either sitting on my feet or giving me that 'goofy grin'.
The senior lanners were forever teasing me about it. 'mumbles' bastards
