Check it out. This is the trailer (only 45 seconds) for my first short film (Only about 10 minutes). I wasn't concerned with storyline or acting too much being my first film. I just wanted some footage to shoot on my new camera and edit with my computer software, so I warn you in advance... It's not very good. Watch at your own risk. I'd love to hear feedback as well.

Sony Handycam Digital-8. No microphone, just the Handycam. Then I sent it all into my computer and booted it up on Magix Movie Edit Pro11 for all the editing & sound equalization.

It was a wedding gift, but I'd guess around $500-$700 or so.

Oh it's all in the can. I just need to finish editing. I'm almost done, just need to put the final polish on the scene transitions and then do scoring. I'd expect it to be ready within a month or so. :)

Keep an eye out right here or on YouTube because odds are, those are the only places you'll be able to find it. Finished product will only be about 10 minutes.

Will you be putting it on DVD's with box art and everything?

Good trailer by the way.

i liked it - the editing was pretty crisp (the early cuts were right on the beat) - i thought you could have shortened the length of the later shots - to create more of a frantic rapid tempo.

the blond was cute as well!

who were the actor? mates or did you hire them?

bwind22
04-30-2007, 04:22 PM
1 is my cousin, 1 is my borhter & the girl is my brother's girlfriend.

No hiring. The entire bugdet of that film was $20. :)

I hope that $20 you spent was for the gas in the car :D

For being no budget, I thought it was very well done. Great job with the editing Bwind.

Yeah, I'll probably throw some sort of packaging together. It'll probably be ultra-rare though because I won't make too many (since any money I spend is just cash outta pocket that won't be recooped.)

My other option is waiting until I have a few shorts done & then packaging them all on to 1 disc or something to save myself a little coin... We'll see. I'll keep ya posted on that.

Good start although I think the trailer actually need a little more build up in the suspense.

Is it a spoof of the Blair Witch?

yeh, it looks like a blair witch/wrong turn kinda thing. Pretty good. Maybe a bit more chilling music. Sorry if that sounded rude. It's better than whatever I could have done. How long is the actual film?

Keep us updated if you actually do make it into some form of DVD. To support a fellow HDC member and indie no budget film maker, I would buy a copy.

Bubblegum M

Not really a spoof because the only thing funny about it is the bad acting. The script isn't comedic. It's more of a 'lost chapter' to the Blair Witch tale. The woods they are in are supposed to be 'Black Hills Forest' which is where BWP takes place & they see some of the same stuff as in the BWPs.

Not rude at all, any comments & criticisms are appreciated and taken with a grain of salt. The whole film is only 10 minutes long.

Thanks for the support! I'll definately keep everyone here posted.

In semi-related news, my 2nd short script is done & we'll be filming this summer. Like I mentioned, the film that THIS thread & trailer are about was done more with the intention of getting myself footage to experiment with on my new software and little attention was paid to story, script or acting... I have a feeling that the 2nd one we make will be a GIGANTIC improvement over the first by literally hundreds of percent. The script is more elaborate and much better written and having done 1 now, I know alot more of what works and what doesn't so I think it'll go much smoother & better all around. That 2nd one, however won't be complete probably until the end of the year.

In other semi-related news, The Cabin, the film I acted in (but had no part in writing or directing) is STILL in post-production hell. It's a feature length low-budget slasher and the director is having some major problems with the scenes we shot on greenscreen. At this point, I'm getting less and less optimistic about this film's chances of ever seeing the light of day at all, but if anything ever does happen with it, I'll surely keep you all posted on that too.

I d love to see The Cabin get a release, because I ve been interested in that movie of yours since the beginning.

Regarding this one and your next, keep posting regular updates. It does look promising, and you have an eye for details. Not bad at all.

lol That makes 2 of us. I'd just love some proof & confirmation that I didn't waste 6 weekends in a rowthat summer for not only no pay, but absolutely nothing in return. He's still working on it though let's keep our fingers crossed.

I liked the editing you used. The quality of the video was also very good. The acting reminded me of a B rate horror flick which should add to the horror element of the old school slasher type flicks. Overall looked pretty good being your first short. Can't wait to check it out.
