yeah it's filmed in Japan, the name of the original show is 'Takashi's Castle' i believe (watch the end credits carefully).

I saw a weird Japanese-based show on tv a while back kinda like this one (yeah Ive seen and loved takeshis castle, id love a dvd if one were available...), it was called "Banzai!" anyone seen that one?
