well it has nothing to do with horror...just thought i'd let people know.
actually the story of LOTR isn't that far fetched...Tolkien spent a great amount of time, creating an entire world...races,languages,weapons..etc.
the books are far better than the films, but the films are still great!

Ya me too. Maybe its just the fact that when EVERYONE IN THE WORLD says its THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER i get a little turned off ya know? i liked the first one, but 2 hours of battle in the 2nd turned me off. I WILL NOT go see the third, shit i wont even download it:D It also seems a bit marketed to kids with the lack of real violence etc. Just not hardcore enough for me.
AND I FUCKING HATE LIV TYLOR!!!!!!

LOTR seems kinda gay to me...no offense to anyone...but I mean come on...
Two little kids searching for jewelry with some half naked midget talking about precious things....

Arioch, if you thought the first Potter was good, and the second one not so good, in saying that, you're basically agreeing with most of the fans of the books (I've spoken to) out there....going on that, I would reccomend you see the third one when it comes out, I personally think it took the series in a darker direction, and the third was by far my favourite...a little longer, darker, and one very cool twist, provided nobody's already spoiled it 4u...

i didnt like the first two because like arioch said, too mainstream, i totally agree, and i ususally like fantasy...i liked the third though, it seemed more of an adventure...if u like sam , watch the third. look in my humble opinion, sam (or should i say sean astin) is the only character who acts in the 3rd movie, the rest just pose for the camera! except gandalf, who always acts well.. im happy they gave gimli some a FEW lines in the third one, in the first two he was just comic relief.....now ive got that off my chest, ill stop rambling

Haha! It's so very true...
But on topic, I dig bth The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. Not to the point of worship, but where I'll probably watch if they were on TV and nothing else was on...

i have a dislike for harry potter, coz i like fantasy to be like in those mature-type fantasy books, for eg. those written by ra salvatore, and the dragonlance series (ANYONE HERE A FAN OF THESE?), no offense to ppl who like harrry potter, but it just seems...wrong

I'm reading my first dragonlance at the moment, seems kinda cool...are they always about the same few characters?
u know, raistlin, the "kender" guy, Sturm...etc?
Gotta say, the one I'm reading at the moment "Rumour of Dragons" is very good...but I'd like to think that the same characters r in them all the time...it's be good to go back for the "prequel" feel...
As for anyone who diga harry potter, would u agree that #3 sets the series in a better direction?

ive read about 3 dragonlance books, yeh they mostly focus on the same characters, there are a few characters that appear in some but not in others, flint and kitiara. in one of the books i read there was a host of gnomes which went on an adventure with kitiara and sturm...the characters have different personalities and beliefs (kitiaras a mercanary, sturm a noble knight, raistlin well he is very interesting).... im reading Test of the Twins at the moment...its an old one (1986)

Yeah, I think we need to discuss more hard-hitting topics like who has the best avatar and what would make a good pet.

Um, i think i was slightly missunderstood here. What i ment was that i thought the first LOTR was good and the second kinda sucked. I cant really take harry potter seriously enough to think ones better than the other really. They are pretty entertaining though. Now that i think about it, Harry potter kept me entertained FAR longer than LOTR did.:p

hope i dont get paid out for this, but i found the scene where Shelob was chasing Frodo inside the caverns a bit scary, cos Shelob was so fast and she kept coming out of nowhere.....
