No. This isn't a topic requesting movies which feature cabins or campgrounds. It's a different king of meaning, 'camp', as in... self-aware, playful, so bad it's good. I'm sure you know what I'm getting at. What are some horror movies (if you love this 'sub-genre') that feature such a camp attitude? I've really began to dig them.

As in Troma?...I've discovered I don't care for Troma as much as I did when I was younger...I still really like the first Toxic Avenger though
Herschell Gordon Lewis is pretty campy...But, I like a LOT of those...For the gore, mostly

"The Day It Came To Earth" is one of my faves, it is ultra-camp, and in a certain way a precursor to Night of the Creeps in that it has a zombie brought back to life by a meteor, and is a 50's period piece (although Creeps was only period in the opening scenes).
"The Day It Came To Earth" is pretty dorkball, with the actors hamming it up pretty bad. It's not meant to be taken remotely seriously but in a strange way is capable of producing a low-calorie chill or two amidst all the laughs.

Yeah, you know, people criticize me for liking "Return of the Living Dead Part 2." I like that movie! It makes me happy! I don't care what all those people think, their opinions do not convince me that I am wrong to myself. It's a light movie. The main "bad guy" ends up being a zombie kid, of all things! It has millions of zombie makeups and effects--and most of it is really well done. Good music score by J. Peter Robinson. And it does have atmosphere. I seriously don't understand why so many people hate it as much as they do...I guess it's all the jokes or something.

this is my fave zombie movie by a mile. didn't know that it was hated. i notice you touch on the score, which is funny cause this movie is where i was first introduced to the cramps and have loved them ever since. if i can recommend a couple of camp movies they would be the fearless vampire killers, the wicker man and zoltan, hound of dracula.

Dinah Cancer in the dressing room at the Madison, with Dustin and the kids
The bass player she just toured with (Mike Skull) will be here hanging out at our house on April 29, 30th and 31st...Mike's bringing his band (Vile Remains) here to do a show...He's an awesome guy, and a lot of fun...The rest of the band will be staying with our friend Alisa (cuz, we don't really know the rest of the guys)

HaHa...Nope...Not that young...But, everyone confuses Seri's pictures with mine, and they always tell her that we look alike...She hates it...
OH...When it gets REALLY funny is when someone says to me, "I saw you at (some place) the other night"...But, I rarely go anywhere since the baby's been born, and when I DO go somewhere, I always have the whole bunch with me...So, I'll ask Seri, "Were you at (some place) the other night"...She used to say, "Yeah, why?"...NOW she says, "Yeah...Who thinks they saw YOU?"...hahaha

I guess the camp genre of horror is one I've never really cared for. Not to say that I haven't loved a handful of them - it is just that I generally avoid them when I'm in the mood for horror.

I guess it sorta depends on what kinda mood you're in...Every now and then I want to sit and watch a cheesy, silly horror movie...Not USUALLY, but just every now and then
I just bought Frogs, btw :D

True, but I often like campish horror, particularly 2001 Maniacs. Very entertaining.

HaHa...That was great...I love Robert Englund...Have you seen Herschell Gordon Lewis's original version, 2000 Maniacs?...The remake changed up some of the kills a little bit, and their decision to incorporate the existing cotton mill was awesome

Yeah, that H. G. Lewis......that is one twisted guy. His films are pretty entertaining. My favorite of his, strangely, is not a horror film...Blast-Off Girls. I happen to enjoy that film's story and characters so much that it outshines the gore films in my book!
