I'm looking for some people's opinions on the scariest, jump-out-at-you ghost movie they've seen. I'm talking about movies like Pulse, Stay Alive, Darkness Falls, etc... meaning they all have ghosts. Any ideas?

The Haunting (1963)

One of, if not the best ghost stories of all time. Lots of atmosphere.

I want to see the Devil's Backbone so bad ever since I saw Pan's Labyrinth. (wow really bad run on sentence)

Anyway, I really loved The Others. Not scary so much but had such good atmosphere and nice twists and turns.

Fantastic film - best ghost movie ever. Avoid the remake like the plague.

Also very good:

The Innocents
Ghost Story
El Espinazo del Diablo (The Devil's Backbone)
The Lady in White

Juon. Not the crappy american Grudge remake, the original Japanese version.

Nowhere near the scariest, but IMHO the best ghosts ever is the remake of 13 Ghosts. The story was so twisted from the 1963 original as to be almost unrecognizable and the cast and acting left a hell of a lot to be desired, but for pure perfection in what the ghosts looks like, this is still my fave. Makes CGI look like cut out dolls and most ghost makeup like an 11 year old's Halloween costume.

Yeah, they had a look similar to the one in Stir of Echoes, only creepier. I like that style, with the jerky movement. The Messengers ghosts had a similar look.

right now I would have to go with either tale of two sisters, or the changeling. That freaked the crap out of me when I was little.

I know the movies I mentioned suck, that's why I'm asking you guys for your opinions.

Thanks for the suggestions!
