I have heard bits and pieces about this movie, but I can't seem to find a lot of info on it other than it was "banned from cable!" Apparently, it was suppose to be part of the Masters of Horror series (I think it's on Showtime), but it was directed by Takahashi Miike (in his first English Language movie) who did his usual ultraviolence and they pulled it before it aired.

I had looked for this on Netflix to no avail, but when I was at Best Buy this weekend, it was there and on impulse I bought it. Now to those that have seen it, is it worth watching or should I return it and get my $12 back?

I know it's graphic and I have seen other movies by Miike before and liked them (though I cringed at Audition), but really how bad is the torture scene? How's the plot? I know his movie will drag sometimes, but I do like period horror movies.

i'm waiting for it to come from play.com so i can't help but if it was only $12, it was banned from t.v. and you already have it in your possession why are you not watching it as we speak? mine cost £8.14. seems like $12 is the going

Thanks for the link. I was trying "Imprint" not "Masters of Horror", I think thats why I couldn't find it.

I just moved it to the top of my queue so I can go ahead and watch it through Netflix. I rather watch it for free, stop it at any point, and send it back than open the one that I got.

Otherwise, I think I feel guilty for not watching the whole thing whether I liked it or not and be out $12 (I spend enough on DVD's as it is). I'm trying to be really picky about what I add to my DVD collection because I'm starting to have a serious space issue. But if it's good I'll keep it. :)

I saw this one. It isn't ultra-violent, just heavy on taboos, most notably abortion.

It's gross, but that's what I liked about it, it made me squirm and not too many things can do that to me anymore.

Kind of in the vein of Dumplings, eh?

3 1/3 each :)

is that all. i thought they were highly touted. fair enough, if thats your opinion. i suppose i did find a tale of two sisters superior to kairo which a lot of people find strange.

not me

Kairo sucked ass. Really weak. Complete lack of storytelling it simply leaned on creepy images with no emotional or logical connection. The only scene that left any kind of impression on me was the leap from the tower.
