Just seen it, and not being an american i was just wondering...
What did you americans think about it?
I'm just asking because I personally felt that Sacha was using this entire movie as an excuse to treat your country and cultures as one big toilet.
Thought it was tasteless, embarrasing and, only on a few occasions, hillarious.
Your thoughts?

No, not exactly.
The only actor in it, was Sacha and the fat kazak dude. Everybody else were just ordinary city folks/victims. Like the poor bastard Borat was chasing down the streets. lol. Now THAT was funny! :D

I quite liked the quirky, offbeat humor in it. Sacha Baron Cohen took a lot of digs and potshots, but the humor was unmistakable in all the sarcasm.
Tis a shame he was wasted in Talladega Nights...he looks talented, the guy.

I thought it was hysterical, very outrageous. Most of the time I was too shocked to laugh. The bear was pure genius.
Reminds me a lot of Water's Pink Flamingos (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069089/), which was probably the most outrageous and funny movie I had seen up until Borat. Great movie, also has good shots of Baltimore 30 years ago.

it was good, but there's no substitute for good, old fashioned comedy. I'll take Airplane! over Borat any day.

I thought this movie was f'ing hilarious. Cohen took the piss out of everyone he came across in the film - none more than Jewish people (and he is Jewish - so I think it's hard to be personally offended by anything in the film).

I thought that his depiction of Americans was right on. As an American, I see this widespread idiocy every day. If anything, he was too kind.
As for the movie itself, I enjoyed it. The first half was great, but the second half did not seem nearly as funny. I couldn't tell if the gag just got old or if the film ran out of steam.

Yup. You know what's coming next - China proclaiming that because it's now the only superpower, that means that OBVIOUSLY capitalism doesn't work, and communism was the right way after all. Then we'll get the 'capitalists under the bed' paranoia thing going on...
So... err.... sorry about that! Our bad!:o
I blame the Romans. What have the Romans ever done for us??? :D

Socialist Labour Party=Liberalism=Socialism=Marxism=Commumism!
Karl Marx would be very proud of you Great Britain for turning communist China into the only SUPERPOWER in the whole Milky Way Galaxy!:D

My favorite part was Borat getting down with da hood boyz and afterwards tries to get a hotel room.
Borat: What's up with it, Vanilla face? Me and my homie Azamat just parked our slab outside. We're looking for somewhere to post up our Black asses for the night. So, uh, bang bang, skeet skeet, nigga. Just a couple of pimps, no hos.

i haven't seen it yet, but i have seen most of the ali g show (which is baron cohen's tv series if anyone not from britain is interested). in his series he has a gay german fashion reporter character who does equivalent stuff, instead of using set plays to bring out peoples anti semitic views he brings out their anti gay side. personally i think bruno is every bit as funny as borat. i also heard that paramount had just bought the rights to make a 'bruno' movie.

We had the Ali G Show here in the states, it was on HBO for awhile. You can get all the episodes on DVD now too.
The Bruno movie is suppose to come out in 2008.
Also, I heard that there is this new Robin Hood show that's on TV in the UK (not sure if it's available in the states yet). Have you seen it? Is it any good?
