First of all, at the time of his arrest, Ed Gein was a 52 years-old, 5'7" inch unassuming, frail, shy, quiet, reserved, farmer who kept to himself. He committed his first murder at the age of 48. When he did commit his murders, they were quick, messy and usually sneak attacks.
So, what do we have with this adaption of ED GEIN? Kane Hodder. Nothing
against Kane Hodder, but he's 6'3", all muscle, far from frail and is attacking people wantonly with axes, shotguns and knives.
He's quite simply, just a ripoff of Leatherface or Jason Voorhees. Stalking his prey, looming over everybody else and staring menacingly at his victims. Why not just call this Texas Chainsaw Massacre 7? To prove my point, Kane Hodder played Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th 7, 8 & 9.
If you're looking for a "new school horror" flix with some gore....It's for you. ;)
IMO - It was merely O.K.

this the first i've seen of it, but i did watch a good documentary recently and i think it could prove more disturbing to use the sort of bad guy you underestimate. lets face it, thats how most of the real serial killers get away with it, 'he just kept himself to himself' etc, etc.

possible ***SPOILER***, i think he killed his brother, although he was never convicted for it, and also the female proprietor of a local diner. he was dominated by his over-protective devoutly religious mother. when she died he had a break down and lost what few marbles he had left. after conviction he spent time in a mental hospital followed by jail after he was deemed fit for trial. don't think he ever got out. but he did get off pretty lightly considering he killed in his early forties and lived well into his seventies.

This movie is a complete joke. Its pure fabrication. Very little of what is shown actually happened. Most of the film revolves around this dipshit deputy and his girlfriend. "Gein" is more of a subplot. I have seen the other Gein movie from a few years ago, and read articles/books about him, and he was nothing like this film presents him as.
This is a contender for worst movie of the decade.

all the crimes he alledgeedly committed that you mentioned is basically the movie. i guess the producers didnt want to follow the actuall story and sensationalize Ed Gein to seem more like Leatherface and hopefully, just hopefully become rich making a smash cult hit. i dont think so.

*SPOILER*
The guy he kills and drags behind his truck wasn't his brother. It was his "helper". That never happened. Also, the circumstances surrounding the actual known killings he commited are false in this film. Another thing is how he dealt with that girl at the end, and how basically the whole police force was out their looking for him. Didn't happen.
Also, this film(and the other Gein movie) didn't deal with the possibility that Gein killed those two kids and a few adults in his area. It was never proven of course, but if you're going to tell the story of Ed Gein, if you want to be taken seriously, you better include this info.
This film was a joke.

This was easily one of the worst films I've seen in years. Like Jameslofton said it bears no resemblence to the actual events. I had high hopes for it especially since it paired Hodder with Michael Berryman but yeh it sucks.
B.T.K with Kane Hodder was a lot better. I'm not very familar with the details of the actual case... I'm guessing it took liberties.

Total throw away film but with Kane cast as Gein what do you really expect.
I do however love DERANGED.

Deranged is one of my all time favorites fuckin' love that flick.
I wasn't expecting anything amazing but I thought it would be some OTT fun but it was really dull. I was expecting a cross dressing Jason Vorhees on a rampage to be honest :D
