Light hearted as in, you can watch these ANY time, no matter what. Just light, no point good movies. Mine would be:

John Tucker Must Die (own it, can watch it no matter what)
Austin Powers
Airplane!
Baron Manchausen
Secondhand Lions (Easily the best family movie ever made IMO, everyone should see this. Its a 12/10 on my scale.)

Outstanding film.I am a grown man and fight the tears every time I see the long line of headlights.

61* is also moving.I feel so bad for Roger Marris and his family for not getting the recognition he deserves.

I agree on secondhand lions... very very very good movie.

The ending! Not the very end (when he's older) but when he's still a kid (you probably know what i'm talking about) is the BEST ending I have ever seen.

That isn't what light hearted really is.

well, as there isn't a movie genre specified as 'light hearted' i just put in oldschool as i thought anything that wasn't intense would qualify, but as it's your ball let me know the rules.

Have you seen Second Hand Lions though?

Hated it. It's the worst kind of sappy Hollywood sentimentality. 3/10 and that's just because of Duval and Caine - two fantstic actors who must've been given the old bait-and-switch on this one.

You hated it because it was sentimental? At least this one was original though...

Sentimentality means unearned emotion...of course that's a bad thing.

But don't take my word for it:

"The whole thing's just not funny enough for children. And it's far too sad for adults."- Stephen WhittyNewark Star-Ledger

"The kind of pandering family entertainment that would make even Walt Disney roll in his grave."Jan Stuart, Newsday

"Michael Caine is badly miscast in this movie. I didn't believe him for one second in that role."Richard Roeper, Ebert & Roeper

"Lions' iron whimsy is a jackhammer on the heart." Carrie Rickey, Philadelphia Inquirer

"There are too many leaden moments and odd shifts in tone to keep Lions from winning us over." Claudia Puig, USA Today

"A thirdhand lark." Ed Park, Village Voice

"Of little interest to anyone except those who thought Air Bud was too smutty."
Michael O'Sullivan, Washington Post
