Well. Tough poll considering the limited choices. But taking the few films you gave....and ONLY taking the specific films you gave as choices (no sequels or prequels), I had to go with the first Nightmare on Elm Street. Very original plot, decent acting, and actually scary....especially way back in the 80s. But most of your poll choices are pretty good. Tough to pick one fave.

Yep. I love Eraserhead, it's one of my favorite films of all time.
However, if we're talking straight horror movies, my favorite is The Evil Dead. It is horror in the purest form, to me.

The Evil Dead was good.Suprisingly good.Ash was an original character,although i liked him more in the second and third films,because by this point he was insane.Er...anyway Evil Dead gets my vote
