...Hasn't been much talk about it around here (that I can see).
I caught a trailer for this one a few days back, seemed ok.
What do you guys think? Anyone along for this?
There's a trailer up at apple if anyone wants to look for it.

Seems silly, but I'm a total sucker for the character. I'll probably go see it.

I'm not too hyped without Anthony Hopkins.

I am actually hyped because there is no hopkins. I read an article about why lecter eats people on crimelibrary (they were analyzing him as if he were a real serial killer), and i am really interested in the revenge aspect of it. If they show what happens to his sister when he was a kid, it will be very disturbing. Worse than pigs eating crippled pedophiles.

That was why hannibal fed him his face, he considered him worthless. If i recall correctly, Lecter was appointed by the court to ry and "rehabilitate" him.

yep, from memory he got him high on drugs, gave him a piece of glass, suggested that he cut his face off and then fed it him.

from memory wasn't he the only victim to survive?

Well, besides the nurse, but technically, they'd caught him.

Yes, he was the only survivor. I justed started the book. I should be done before the film is released. I'm in the same place... read all of the books, seen the other films, what the hell? Hey, he's an interesting character.

never seen manhunter or red dragon. I assume manhunter is set before red dragon because i know that in that they discover he's a cannibal. I liked silence of the lambs and this should be fun. Hopkins i can tell is always going to be the best.

Ferret-

Manhunter and Red Dragon are both based on the same novel. Manhunter was made before Silence of the Lambs, with a totally unrelated cast/crew. After Silence and Hannibal became such huge hits, someone decided to remake Manhunter with Anthony Hopkins, but name it after the original novel...causing much confusion and giving film geek such as myself something to feel smart about:p

Both are pretty solid films...personally I think Manhunter is much better than Red Dragon, but I enjoy both.

Just read the review on ain'titcool.com - wow, Massawyrm really hated this one and went so far as to say :

"This is the type of origin you’d expect from a Ewe Boll – not the director of an Oscar Nominated art film and the writer of one of the best thrillers of our time."

ouch!

AAhh, I'll go see it anyway. I mean, the trailer looked o.k. I really like watching movies about how the killer got started. Probably because it's usually so screwed up I feel better about my life. Fake or not. Bring on the sickness!
