Anyone read it? I just finished it and saw the movie at school. Its amazing i thought, lots of creepy stuff and witches this and that. What are your opinions on the book?

Unfortunately I haven't read it. I'm assuming by your post that maybe it was a school assignment? Do you read alot?

It is a major literary/dramatic work. I'm glad to see it is still required reading in some schools. It is wonderful (even though heavily flawed) as a document about the Salem witch trials, but much more important as a response to Senator McCarthy and the House Un-American Activities Committee's crusade against supposed communist sympathizers.

It so very clearly illustrates that the US was founded (and to a certain extent - is still governed) by religious extremists.

Not as soul-stirring as Miller's masterpiece Death of a Salesman, but a major work of art nonetheless.

Its really out there. And looking past the deeper meaning of it, has some extreme suspense. Dramatic Irony really, the scene where he told the court that his wife would never lie, and they brought her in to see whyat she would say, made me so agitated when it all went down. The ending is incredibly depressing, although at the same time the best ending possible, because he died because of what he believed in, what he knew was right. And he, along with his wife, were the only 2 sane people in that entire colony.

I havent read it, nor have I seen the movie, but I saw a stage version of it not long ago - pretty good.
