what The Killer Shrews about (sounds odd)?

Plot Summary for
The Killer Shrews (1959)

A disparate group are trapped on a remote island by a hurricane. On the island, a doctor works to make humans twice as small as we already are. This, apparently, will help prevent over population. Unfortunately, his experiments have also created some giant shrews. As the shrews run out of smaller animals to eat, they move in on the people in the house.

Killer Shrews is a damn good time man. Its cheesy, but definatly one of the best 50's creature-features around.

THEM is a must, definitely one of the best

Here's a few more.... not all good though :o

Arachnid
Tarantula
Komodo
Python
Bugs
They Nest
Infested

I'm sure a few more will come to mind :)

Rats: Night of Terror is somewhat entertaining. Not good by any means, but enjoyable in a "so-bad-its-funny" kind of way.

Them, Tarantula, Phase Four, Beginning of the End (cheesy fun), Strays(really awful), Devil Dog the Hound from Hell, Zoltan Hound of Dracula, Hound of the Baskervilles, It Came from Beneath the Sea, Tentacles, Devilfish, The Swarm

I haven't seen those in years. Missed out on copies at the start of the year on VHS.

Squirm is a pretty cool flick with killer worms :D

You can't go wrong with Invasion of the Bee Girls (well it kinda fits into this category haha).

The Beast

I loved this when I was a kid, about a big giant squid, and its pretty good if i remember...

Creature

This used to be on tv a lot, and i have no idea where to find it, but its awesome.
Creature on a tropical inhabited island deal, but its long and lots of jumps.

Mimic is my favorite take on the killer bug theme..
Mimic AND Mimic 2 are great...Mimic 3 sucks

I'm trying to think of some that haven't been mentioned...Urge took the first one I thought of :)

Ticks - My favorite scene is what happens to the guy who played Carlton in Fresh Prince of Belair

Frankenfish - Sounds kinda lame, but it's actually an excellent movie...Well, we really like it, anyway

Carnisaur

Squirm

Alex said, "Eight-Legged Freaks"

I know that I have tons more that I'm just not thinking of right now...Sometimes I get in a mood to watch nothing but creature features, so I have quite a lot of them (many have already been mentioned in this thread by others)

Note:

Larva is absolutely terrible...Don't waste your time

AND

King Of The Ants is NOT about ANTS...But, it IS an excellent movie...I love Stuart Gordon

Posher778
02-01-2007, 05:26 AM
Rayne is right, larva is one of the most retarded movies ever, with the dumbest looking monsters ever. Pick up a blanket and throw it at someone, is it scary? No, thats what the monsters look like.

if you want yer ants, little regular sized ants - but a whole darn bunch of them : The Naked Jungle
Is that the old one where

************SPOILERS!!!************

they try to stop them with a moat, but the ants form a bridge, so they fill the moat with gasoline?

I can NEVER remember the name of that movie...Or...Am I thinking of something completely different?

might be .. its with Charleton Heston ..
I got the laserdisc not long ago - havent watched it yet ..
supposed to be pretty good though
Yes!!...Charleton Heston...That IS the one

It isn't really a typical horror movie...There's no gore, or anything 'scary'...But, for some reason I really like it...I think maybe it's just the constant threat that keeps it tense and makes it 'kinda' scary...Well, and maybe the fact that people die...Something about it is just REALLY good...

Maybe it's the 'reality factor'...Knowing that we are severely outnumbered if nature wanted to take over or something...

Cool thanks again.

Has anyone seen "The Host"?
Seen an ad for it on the link for Zombies Halloween script review.
Think it was out late last year.
Some comments from papers sounding like this, best monster movie and on par with jaws.
After watching the trailer I highly doubt that but it does look like an entertaining film.

Seen it.

Nowhere near Jaws. More like a better rendered Godzilla with silly over-the-top family shit. Slow, uneven and too much like bad Speilberg, not enough like the good Speilberg.

Yea without seeing the film I kinda thought that was the way it was gonna go. Is it even worth watching for the comedy value?

Orca holds up pretty well.I'm gonna go ahead and buy it...That's just one of many that I haven't thought about in a really long time

But I DO remember talking about it a LOT, telling all my friends about it, when I was younger

The part that I still remember most (without giving anything away) was the part about the killer whale's baby...and the boat...That was very said to me...It was like the killer whale was crying...
