Any thoughts on this one? Looks like a shitty werewolf movie to me. By the producers of Underworld. Doesn't sound too promising.

It looks real good!
Is this a love story with werewolves?
Dracula gave us a GREAT love story with vampires,so it's about time we get a good one with werewolves.

On of the reviews I read stated that the "werewolves" were simple shape-shifters who turn into wolves (not a man-wolf hybrid) but still have all their human faculties.
Talk about cutting the balls off the concept. The most compelling thing about a werewolf tale is the concept of a complete loss of controll, becoming a wild beast. The whole puberty metaphor is rendered neuter if the beasts are rational.
Lame.

Hmmmmmm. Yea I noticed in the trailer that the humans just shape shifted into wolves I was a bit disappointed with that. I am unsure what I think about this film. It might be interesting to see the "werewolf" pack but the whole love story idea hmmmm I dont know.

Lame. What's the point of just changing shape, if nothing else changes?...Damn, they may as well become butterflies...No, then they could FLY...
I guess it's more like just putting on a wig, or changing your clothes...That's pretty lame...

Im surprised no one has yet commented on the shear hackiness of the "We have been hiding for ages, but now is our time!" Motif. WHO CARES?
Talk about an overdone concept. Also, I completely agree, the shapeshifter thing is just boring. If they just did it as a shapeshifter movie, rather than "werewolf", it would be a more acceptable concept.
the other thing is the whole fantasy/horror/sci fi as a backdrop for a typical romeo and juliette style movie is pedestrian now. there were probably a hundred movies and stories like that written in the 80s alone.

LOL! Nice.
I was actually thinking about this on the way back to my cubicle from the cafeteria with my lunch (how depressing is THAT sentance?...) Vampires and werewolves are perfectly good subjects for movies and stories in general, but they have fallen into a stale pattern. they are so ingrained in pop culture, that they hold no mystery any more, so what we end up with is a bunch of self-aware garbage. Werewolves used to be horrifying, one was all you needed for an entire movie, and they were effective. Same with vampires, they were near-godlike monsters from ancient lands with deep backgrounds.
Now, dont get me wrong. i liked the first 2 blade movies, but that awareness of the subject robs it of its effectiveness. Fear of the unknown is mankind's #1 fear. The key to good atmosphere is keeping the details hidden.
Its a cheesy source, but Skeet ulrich had a great point in Scream when he said the killers were scarier when you didnt know their motives.
Now, Dog Soldiers worked, in my opinion, because they didnt get into the werewolves very much. They mentioned the legends, and the stuff everyone knows, to set up a framework. From there on in, you didntknow where they were, when they would attack, or if the soldiers were ever going to find something to kill them with. Now underworld? They are "Lupines" or whatever. Mystery gone, they are now a subculture. they may as well have been "Asians". Give them an identity, and you strip the mystery.
Sorry, i am ranting.

I vow never to see a horror flick thats PG-13 unless its a classic.

I think history has shown us that PG-13 horror CAN be effective if done correctly. It's a shame it's simply not done well anymore.

I know that this is an old thread and whatnot, but I have to say something...
Redundant horror film themes are getting annoying, and there is a reason for the PG13 rating on this one. It was created from a teen sci fic type novel called "Blood and Chocolate"... go figure. The book was exceptional for what the author was trying to create, but still dull and childish. The movie doesn't follow the book at all, excenpt that our heroine, Vivian, falls for a human, Aiden. I refuse to watch the movie for the simple fact that it'll piss me off. They made a stupid teen-leveled book into an even more idiotic movie. Fair warning to all of you.
and sorry for my extended absence... even though I'm sure most of you that know me are cringing at the fact of my return. :D

Looks just like the whole "warewolf/vampire" thing, in reverse this time.
May as well have called it "underworld: junior".
I saw the trailer...didn't look too bad, but...yeah, I'll wait for the video.
