Police: 'Hillside Strangler' Grandson Shoots Grandma Then Kills Self
Brea, California - Brea police say the grandson of "Hillside Strangler" Angelo Buono Junior shot and wounded his grandmother before killing himself.
Sergeant Darrin Devereux says 20-year-old Christopher Buono was found dead yesterday inside an Orange County furniture store where his grandmother, Mary Castillo, worked.
Police say the 67-year-old Castillo had gunshot wounds to her head and chest. She's hospitalized in stable condition.
Castillo was once married to Angelo Buono, one of two men whose gruesome killings of girls and women in the 1970s terrorized Los Angeles.
The killings were known as the "Hillside Strangler" slayings because the victims' bodies were dumped on hillsides around the city.
The motive of the shooting is under investigation.
