I posted these 2 related news stories today:

Then I started researching it...It's actually been going on for quite a while...I have found arguments against this and FOR it...This guy thinks it SHOULD be legal, and doesn't see anything wrong with it:

I just think it's insane for a LOT of reasons

What do you guys think?...Would YOU do it?

I just thought of something...Abortion is legal because a "woman has a right to do whatever she wants with her body", this stance claims that the woman's baby is a part of her body so she can have it removed if she wants to...So, why is it illegal to have any OTHER 'body parts' removed upon request?...Hmmm

What so ironic about this is the people from
the poorer african countries and asian would sell thier organs
in order to survive.
I think us westerners will do anything for an easy quick dollar.
Should it be legal.?
If it belongs to you ..then it should be your right to do with it as
you please.

I'll tell you what the problem is here in the States. (Haven't read the articles just yet): Money taken from the Healthcare systems and from the people who pay for those organs (v. people who've been waiting... Take Mickey Mantle receiving a liver right away versus some one on the list for years) and the *ahem* right wing religious institutions. True, it's our bodies, but...we belong to the govt/industry.

However, instead of funeral/burial procedures, you can donate your bod to science for their cadaver collection. I think the money you get varies from state to state and uni to uni, but it is condoned.

In some cultures, however, however, even organ transplant is frowned upon by some people, even those that would benefit. Take Japan for one. Some docs will do it, some won't. Some people will accept it, and some folks won't.

Of course you should be able to sell your own oragns, why the hell not. if you don't realy use them anyway and there just takeing up room, then chuck a price tag on there.

I think that when you're alive, selling your organs might not be the best idea...?
I would sell part of my liver if someone needed it...
Other than that, I'm down with the whole organ donation thing although I think many more people would do it if it were privately funded. EG - A company offers you "?k" per organ, assuming that they have the right to harvest them when you die. Not when you're on machines, when you're really gonna die and even they can't help your recovery. More people would do this (I think) if they made more money in life, then more organs would be available for transplant...sure, it might mean you'd have to pay a few thousand an organ, but hey, better than the alternative.

Probably better for EVERY financial group if operational cloned organs were allowed for production and transplant.

The potential problem though is abuse. Some people are easily lead, others will abuse people either physically or mentally for a quick buck. Personally I need all my organs, as I have a tendency of treating my body harshly.

It should be legal, depending on the subjects mental state and physical health. There should be restrictions as to what they can do perhaps. Everyones allowed to be a full donor for when you die and if when you're alive your organs can be used to save others then I guess it should just be up to the person.

The one thing that should be illegal though is selling organs on the black market. Some of the things that happen are really bad. People get organs stolen etc, some real sick stuff. They would need a special way in which to sell them. Then again it does sound a bit stupid, I cant see it ever being legal, at least not in my life time.
