I know this is probably more suited to the gaming forum, but right now I figured it'd get more views and help towards washing away some of the unpleasantness we've had up in here lately...
I got this game (supposedly the full version) on a pc user demo cd.
I have noticed it being given away many times, and never sold...so, what's the deal? is it just some gaming community developed thing with new releases and extra levels for free here and there?
Also, whats the game itself like? Is there singleplayed campaigns, or is it online too/only?

you can also download the full game online. Its got training missions (which are impossibly hard) and an expansive online community. IDK how they make profit off it being free, but its a pretty sweet deal

So it's kinda like a battlefield type deal then?
Hmm...not much into online only games, but might log in and have a look...

its similar to battlefield in my opinion.
I have played S.F v.2 at xlan.
Hrm if they stay away from upgrading patches like bf2 then i predict it
would probably be an ok game.
BF2 killed the community outright through that.
So yeah..if you have played D.C ..BF 1n 2 ..Vietnam..
then you have already played A.M

Ugh...you actually have to go through the boring as horseshit "training" levels to play the online game? Fuck all that.
I just wanna kill things, that's too much to ask.
Blowing this peice of shit off my HD now.

lolol. ya the training levels are a bitch. 'specially the upper level ones.
they actually put you through 15 minutes TESTS. you have to listne to some dude talk for 15 minutes an aswer a bunch of qeustions. jsut like in real life. WOW! i had to retake the thing like 3 times. everytime you retake it, you have to listen to the fucker ramble on about stuff for another 15 mins.

I'm not a very patient person.
I guess I'll stick to unreal tournament or whatever I buy next for this kinda thing...

America's Army was developed by the US Army/US government, and paid for by US taxpayers. That's how they can give it out for 'free'. It's purpose is public relations and recruitment for the army.

I have been hooked on Half Life games for years :-( Especially Counterstrike.

I try to give it up - it works for a while, but I'm always back into it.

Unfortunately I don't think the ocean between our communities makes much of a difference. If you play well you are a cheat or a hax, if you play poorly you are a tard. It's hard to win. :) But it is stll a great game and worth ignoring the 50% of players that need to grow up before being allowed on the computer by themselves :(

Thanks for the link - that looks so cool.
All my gaming is online - wish I had the time to attend LANs. But it's much easier to get a free half hour or hour in the evening than find a day or more (especially on a regular basis).

Weeks should be at least 10 days long... :)
