How many movies have you worked on..?? Not sure...it has become a blur! I really have no idea.

Who do you idolise the most ..as far as directors go.?? John Carpenter. I like his controlled and linear imagery, and there is always a thinky subtext to his stories.

Have you made any guest appearances in any movies..?? Yes, several. I played the bear in Demonic Toys for one shot. And that scene with the jack in the box punching through the window so it can bite that girl, you know the scene I am talking about, well, that is my hand inside the jack in the box puppet. A big piece of glass fell on me and cut my forehead a little, even though I was wearing all kinds of safety gear. It was breakaway glass, but that stuff can still cut you under the right circumstances.

If you could change one thing in your life..what would it be..?? I would move Disneyland, so that I don't have to drive so far to get there. In Los Angeles, everywhere you need to go is all the way across town.

If you were to support a petition about something..what would it be..?? To stop Halloween from being remade by Rob Zombie. No, that's a joke. I want to see the Rob Zombie Halloween film. I can't think of any petitions to support.

Do you have any siblings and do they share your interest in horror..?? Yes, I have one sibling, and no, he's not a big horror fan in particular. Likes action films more.

What would you spend 1 million dollas on..?? Making a fantasy horror movie. And to conserve funds, I would have people on the crew take turns cooking dinner...we could have spaghetti one night, peanut butter sandwiches the other night, a big bowl of old Halloween bubblegum and some coffee on another night.

OKAY ZERO...you're up next! INTERVIEW WITH ZERO Questions

apologies for delay - I've been swamped!

1. Pick one of your favorite movies and describe why you like it.

Hmm. . . tough one. I'll pick one that will piss people off and say LAND OF THE DEAD. While many people hated it for being either too slick or too slow or not gory enough or whatever - what I loved about it was its subtle political message. The film refused to give us the 'kill-zombies-feel-good' crap we wanted. I thought it was a great and thoughtful response to America in the post-9/11 world. I loved beginning with the zombies and the growing sympathy we feel for them as the whole thing goes to shit - not total sympathy, but ambivalent sympathy. I really thought this was the natural follow-up to DAY OF THE DEAD!

2. Why do monkeys fascinate you so?

OK, assuming we have to be totally honest here I'll confess. They don't. Not that I don't like monkeys, it has just become this thing. So, for all to hear, this is the story. Not long after joining HDC I picked a monkey picture from the Gorillaz album to be my avatar - mainly because I liked the album and thought the picture was cool. Then everyone started calling me 'monkey man' and so I went with the flow and started posting lots of monkey pics - - - soon it became my identity on HDC. . . and then my tail started to grow!

3. If you are cooking to impress someone, what might you cook?

I make a mean spinach/sun-dried tomato risotto. I like that for gatherings and the (very rare) date because I can have it all ready to go before people arrive and then I can chill with them before putting the food on!

4. Tell us about the last book you read.

The last one i finished was Lisey's Story by Stephen King. I liked it and thought the writing was the best for King in about a decade. (That said, there were parts I could have lived without and the eventual payoff, while satisfying, was a bit overly telegraphed.)

I'm currently reading Haruki Murakami's SPUTNIK SWEETHEART, which I'm enjoying immensely (though not as much as his KAFKA ON THE SHORE, which I loved!)

5. What do you like to do purely for fun

Hike mainly. Its the only activity I do that has no work relation or career aspiration (I write some, mainly reviews and stuff, and I enjoy it but its not JUST for fun). I hike mainly in the northeast - Maine, New Hampshire, New York - and I prefer mountains to just long hikes. I've climbed around 100 or so mountains around the world (a few in Scotland and Wales, and a few in the French Alps) though, again, mainly in the northeast.

OK - my turn to play Dick Cavett (. . . who???) and my guest for today is VODSTOK!

VOD - please give us the answers we crave for these five questions:

1) How did you meet your wife and when did you know it was true love?

2) Tell us about your job and what you do on a daily basis?

3) What brought you to HDC?

4) Are there any political beliefs that you hold dear? What kinds of issues really get your blood pumping?

and, 5) We all know you like to write, how do you write? Where do you get ideas, what are your ideal 'writing' conditions, etc.?

Vodstok
01-03-2007, 10:48 AM
Here we go….
1) How did you meet your wife and when did you know it was true love?
My sister met her in a chat room and for some bizarre reason decided to have me chat with her. I normally blew this kind of thing off, but not this time. We hit it off, and even though she lived 3 hours away, she accepted my date request. I knew it was true love a few months later when I met her family for the first time. Not only were they very cool to me, but I had a massive allergy attack from her grandmother’s cats and dogs and ended up getting a vicious case of the flu on top of it. I spent 3 days in bed and she took care of me, going so far as to drive me the 4 hours back (through a blizzard) to her dorm so I could go home. Instant love.

2) Tell us about your job and what you do on a daily basis?
I am a software engineer, but most of what I have done with my current job is support some of the programs and services we run, and to perform basic maintenance (password resets, etc) on the programs we control

3) What brought you to HDC?
In all honesty? I came here to pimp my site, but I didn’t want to be a douchebag and say “Come visit my super cool website”, so I found relevant things to talk about. Turns out, I got along with quite a few people here and I stuck around.

4) Are there any political beliefs that you hold dear? What kinds of issues really get your blood pumping?
Oh, there are all kinds, I am very opinionated. I think the right and the left get most things wrong. I don’t think we NEED guns (and the NRA is NOT “freedom’s front line”… get over yourselves), but that there is nothing wrong with owning them

I think pro-lifers should have to raise any and all kids they were directly or indirectly responsible for being born.

I wish politicians would grow the hell up and stop blaming the media for all the woes in life.

5) We all know you like to write, how do you write? Where do you get ideas, what are your ideal 'writing' conditions, etc.?

I typically like a nice, serene setting, not a lot of background noise. I like ambient music, the darker the better (the quake soundtrack is my staple, American McGee’s Alice helps also). As much visual stimulation as I can get helps, but anything that gets me going emotionally works.

I get ideas from everything, documentaries about the military, songs, offhanded comments by people, movies, stories, videogames, you name it.

I think i will ask Rod some questions.... Seeing as how i find a way to ambush him with questions all the time anyway...

1) Did you go to college, and if so, what was your major?

2) Who is your favorite director? And Why?

3) What was your favorite job before your current one?

4) What brought you to HDC? (I know i was asked this one, but it's a good one)

5) If you had the opportunity to make it so that every screenplay you ever wrote would become a feature film, without exception, would you trade that for an opportunity to direct one of them? this is purely hypothetical, but you would have to pick, if you chose the first part, every screenplay you wrote would become a major motion picture, but you would never ever get an opportunity to direct, and vice versa.

Here goes...

1) Did you go to college, and if so, what was your major?

Yeah, I went to Marquette University in scenic Milwaukee Wisconsin...because they let me in. I started as a business major and switched to Journalism, then to Philosophy and then dropped out after 3 years to be a rock star...didn't work out the way I thought.

2) Who is your favorite director? And Why?

Robert Wise, because he could do anything, the most versitile director of all time. He did horror (The Haunting, Curse of the Cat People) Sci-Fi (The Andromeda Strain, The Day the Earth Stood Still) musicals (West Side Story, The Sound of Music) war movies (Run Silent Run Deep, The Sand Pebbles) historical epics (Helen of Troy) noir (The Set-up) and he even edited Citizen Kane. I am quite simply in awe of the man.

3) What was your favorite job before your current one?

Starring in the first National tour of the musical RENT (I played Roger) was a lot of fun. It was exhausting singing 22 songs a show 8 shows a week, but the fans were amazing (until the Boston Nanny murder thing fell on us) and the money was great.

4) What brought you to HDC? (I know i was asked this one, but it's a good one)

Same as you...I was looking for a place to promote myself. I've never been part of an internet community before and scoffed at it before joining. But I found that I really liked the people and now you can't get rid of me:p

Sell them all? In a fucking heartbeat.
Directing is cool, and I'll probably do it, but it isn't my overriding passion. I'd rather act than direct and I've already written 24 screenplays, so to sell them all would mean I'd never have to worry about cash again!

#2 What's the most amazing/life changing thing you've ever seen?

Two part answer to this:
a) Neil Armstrong walking on the Moon... that was the most amazing thing that's happened in my lifetime and i seriously doubt it can be beaten
b) The speed at which technology has/is changing, when Neil Armstrong was doing his famous walk personal computers were a dream for the future, i have seen them change from huge things with very little memory to pocket calculator sized things that store enormous amounts of information

#3 What is your most prized possession and why?

All right, here goes....

1. What do you do?

Well, I'm a student, artist, mother, writer, musician, and all around oddball.
I'm getting a business degree at Heald right now in case everything else I do doesn't work out.

2. What's the most amazing/disgusting/life changing thing you've ever seen?

My own death. I had a severe reaction to medication an incompetent doctor prescribed to me, and was clinically dead for six minutes. There was no light at the end of the tunnel, there was no sense of existence. I went away and came back, and all I remember is the ceiling of the emergency room slowly dissolving into nothing and the hair up the doctor's nose blowing while he yelled. After that, I decided that I had better start living while I could, because being dead wasn't so hot.

3. What is your most prized possession and why?

Well, first things first.....my sons, because they are my physical immortality.
As far as material possessions go, I have a backpack that's been my friend for fourteen years. When I left home, it was two years old, and I was sixteen, I believe. That backpack was my house, my friend, my pillow and my only anchor to real life for a good long while. It's been back and forth across the country more times than I can count, and every time life cuts me loose to drift it's there waiting for me. There's nothing special about it, it's an old Jansport that's been rolled in the dirt along I-10 from one end of the country to the other. But it's the most sentimental thing I own.

4. Who is your idol?

That's kind of a difficult question. Honestly, I don't look up to anyone. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that every person on the planet is bound to do something you don't like.
If I HAD to pick someone, it would probably be the Marquis de Sade. I admire his nads. I'm sure it wasn't easy to piss off that many people for that long, especially locked up in the nuthouse.

5. What is your biggest regret in life?

Honestly?
That I didn't have sex with Dave Mustaine when I had the chance to.:D

I'm a plant manager for a contract packaging/returned goods processing plant. Basically, we bag bolts for companies that stock construction crews' toolboxes & sort out defective/overstocked/outdated autoparts from companies all over North America. Some of the bigger named companies we get returns from are Autozone, Advance Auto & Ozark/O'Reilly

#2 What's the most amazing/disgusting/life changing thing you've ever seen?
When I was 19, a police chase after a bank robbery ended right in front of the movie theater I was working at. I was working box office, and I was surrounded by nothing but glass doors and windows. The police were pulling people from their cars and using them as road blocks. The robbers got out of the car with guns blazing, and the police fired a hail of bullets into them. I was so scared I almost had a panic attack. It was like being in the middle of an 80's action movie.

#3 What is your most prized possession and why?
My dad has a kind of strange hobby; he digs for historical bottles. He has all kinds of cool shit, like name brand cure-alls from the old west medicine shows. One time, he found an evil looking little stone jester. It looks like it once had some kind of arms and legs, but they've most likely long biodegraded. So I just have this creepy little stone jester torso with a twisted face. He's my good luck charm.

#4 Who is your idol?
Probably my great-grandfather. He fought in WWII & Korea. He was at D-Day. He has two purple hearts. He's also a wonderful, thoughtful man who was always very active. He was constantly tooling away in his woodshop making tables or whatever for anyone who wanted. When my great grandmother had her second stroke, she pretty much turned into a vegetable. He refused to let her go to a home. He hired a nurse to come to them and did whatever he could to pay for the bills. He also carried her around the house, changed her and bathed her for over 8 years as he crept into his 70's. Now he has a pacemaker, and he's still going. If I could be half the man that he's been in his life, I could die happy.

#5 What is your biggest regret in life?
I had a traveling Shakespeare company interested in having me join right after High School. Instead, I decided I couldn't stand to be away from my wonderful *retch* high school sweetheart.

#6 Who's your favourite villain, and why?
I like Long John Silver. He was more of a flawed, greedy man than a real villain. I like that fact. I also like the fact that even though he failed, he still got to disappear into infamy.

I'd like to throw a few over to alky.

#1. You're still pretty young, yet you know a lot more about horror movies than a lot of people my age. Where did your passion for cinema come from?

#2. I know you love the classics, especially B&W. Do you think they're more aesthetically pleasing, or something more along the lines of movies & actors back then having more heart?

#3. Enough about movies. What are some of your hobbies & interests?

#4. OK, more about movies: what are your feelings on burning DVDs?

#5. If you knew you were going to die right after you answered this question (and not answering ever isn't an option, smartass) what would you like to see written about you on your headstone?

From StygianWitch:

#1 What do you do for a living?

-At the moment I am unemployed. My last job was tree removal, after being in it for three years, my boss tried cheating me $200 from my check. Right now I am currently trying to get two different bands going. Working on two different books. Learning how to make jewlery and blacksmithing.-

#2 What's the most amazing/disgusting/life changing thing you've ever seen?

-Hmmmm....This is a tough one. Maybe horror movies. They cured my sqeamish-nish to blood and gore. That was a big thing for me.

#3 What is your most prized possession and why?

-My 1949 Cadillac hearse! Why? Guess!-

#4 Who is your idol?

-Hmmmm....Maybe Klayton from Circle of Dust. He inspired me to start writing music and presenting it.-

#5 What is your biggest regret in life?

-Haha, Probably ever getting involved with my ex. That is becoming the biggest pain in the ass.-

#6 Who's your favourite villain, and why?

-Freddy Krueger just because he rules!-

#7 If you could have 1 special ability/superpower what would it be?

-Invisibility....That way I could get away with a lot more stuff. Haha-

So...everyone's just answering the randoms 'less they get called out?

#1 What do you do for a living?
For another few weeks, nothing. Afterwards, fulltime student (catering, commercial cookery...etc) and I'll be looking at some work, hopefully in catering
rather than the restaurant thing...get a feel for the business that (I think) I'll most likely be going into myself.

#2 What's the most amazing/disgusting/life changing thing you've ever seen?
The inside of a few commercial kitchens...I don't eat out much anymore. Other than that, I've seen shooting stars, death of animals, a dead body or two, the haleys comet thing, childbirth...well video'd anyways.., and a bunch of just...weird, unusual stuff throughout the years, and none of them has really made any kind of "change" that I have taken note of.

#3 What is your most prized possession and why?
I don't know...I really like my knife? It's useful, I use it well, helps me in my favourite hobby, and I guess may one day protect me? It'd probably be that, or my bike which is fun AND helps both the environments and my health.

#4 Who is your idol?
Don't have one. I can admire what a person has done in their life, but I don't feel as though I want to "live up to" them, or be like them, which is what having a "idol" means to me...

#5 What is your biggest regret in life?
Indecision...didn't really know what I wanted to do for a long time, didn't really stop to figure it out...which is why now, at 25, I've only just got into something I love over the last year or so. Ongoing indecision too...still very much "not knowing what to do next"...

I'd like to throw a few over to alky.

#1. You're still pretty young, yet you know a lot more about horror movies than a lot of people my age. Where did your passion for cinema come from?

That's a good question. To be honest, it was kind of an out of the blue passion that started very, very early. You couldn't pick my dad out of a crowd to be mine- he's nothing like me. I'd say he watches probably 10 entire movies per year, and usually sleeps through those. I have my mom, in a way, to thank for my love of films. She got me started early with classics like Arsenic and Old Lace and Rear Window, along with a few horrors (I have early memories of Bride of Frankenstein). She gave me a variety of silver screen entertainment, but after awhile it became obvious that these movies were much more than just entertainment to me.

I guess the short answer to this is quite simple:
Life can be oh so cruel, but the warm, fuzzy memories I have are the ones in which I'm curled up on the couch with a blanket and some hot tea watching Dr. Strangelove or something with my mom. Cinema has been kind to me.

#2. I know you love the classics, especially B&W. Do you think they're more aesthetically pleasing, or something more along the lines of movies & actors back then having more heart?

Absolutely, in a overwhelmingly romantic kind of way. Film was purer back then simply because it needed to be. The only thing people wanted was fantastical entertainment and an abundance of fictitious characters they could look up to. Actors like Humphrey Bogart, Cary Grant, and Clark Gable were chosen because they were masculine, heroic, and charming. Gorgeous actresses like Ingrid Bergman, Fay Wray, and Bette Davis were favorites because they were top-of-the-line women: beautiful, innocent, and dependent. To me, movies are more fun this way. When a movie is so thickly Hollywood-like you can swim in it, it seems easier to sink in and really escape your stresses, fears, and anxieties.

#3. Enough about movies. What are some of your hobbies & interests?

I'm a really self-dependent kind of guy. I enjoy my alone time quite a bit, and have been known to skip out on a party or event to sit at home next to the fireplace and just read. My imagination has been my best friend, since the day I was born. It's never let me down, and it's wild and spontaneous. So I challenge it; reading and writing are an abundant portion of my life. I like to write fiction, and I've given screenplays a shot a couple times, never to a point of satisfaction. As far as books go, Edgar Allan Poe, Mark Twain, and Stephen King (yes, he's mainstream and I love him) are my favorite authors. I draw quite frequently; I like using charcoal and charcoal pastels, and my fingers are usually an assortment of chalky colors in consequence. I enjoy listening to and collecting Old-Time Radio; my favorite radio personalities are Jack Benny, Bob Hope, and, of course, Vincent Price. Besides these things, I enjoy every other thing typical of a 17 year old kid.

#4. OK, more about movies: what are your feelings on burning DVDs?

I'm not anal about it or anything, but I do not partake in it myself. The reason? I feel like I'm hurting one of the only things I truly love. It's weird, because I love music, yet I burn CDs. There's just some hidden guilt I have for copying movies.

And besides that, I like having a pure DVD collection.

#5. If you knew you were going to die right after you answered this question (and not answering ever isn't an option, smartass) what would you like to see written about you on your headstone?

errrg fuck both of you assholes.

someone else go or answer my questions, whatever.

Thats a bit harsh....i'm usually at work so its kind of "hit & run" when I post.....I don't always see every thread and with all the foolish shit going on in the general forum lately, I've been perusing less frequently.

#1 What do you do for a living?--Shipping manager for a small manufacturing company.

#2 What's the most amazing/disgusting/life changing thing you've ever seen?--I can probabaly answer all in one...the birth of my last son...amazing...disgusting [he looked like a big butterball]..life changing [he was born as my mother was dying of cancer..it kind of changed my outlook on life]

#3 What is your most prized possession and why?--my projector/movies in surround sound on a 100 inch screen...it don't get better than that.

#4 Who is your idol?--Don't really have one.

#5 What is your biggest regret in life?--I always wanted to write or perhaps learn to play a musical instrument..pref.. guitar[I suppose its not too late for either]

Kemal

OK sorry I'm late with this, I don't spend all day here you know.

#1 What do you do for a living?

I work for the Department of the Army and I work part time at a gym. I go to school at night; my major is English.

#2 What's the most amazing/disgusting/life changing thing you've ever seen?

For years, a close friend of mine told me he was something that he was not. I investigated his past and when I found out he'd been lying to me all that time about who he was and what he did, I cut off all contact with him. I trust people far less these days.

#3 What is your most prized possession and why?

Nothing I own has sentimental value. All of it can be replaced.

The coolest thing I own . . . a Benelli Super 90 M1 Tactical semi-automatic shotgun.

#4 Who is your idol?

John Brown, the abolitionist. (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/aia/part4/4p1550.html)

He waged guerrilla warfare against slave holders in Kansas. He then attacked an arsenal in Harper's Ferry to steal weapons; the attack failed and he was hung for treason, but he became a martyr and his execution probably led directly to the civil war.

#5 What is your biggest regret in life?

When I was on active duty in the army, I had a chance to go to a Ranger battalion. I've always wondered how well I'd have done there. That's the kind of thing you can only do when you're young.

The_Return

#1. Has there ever been a movie that truly inspired you? I'm talking changed a way of thinking, an emotion, an opinion, or even your life? Which movie(s), and why?

As odd as this sounds, I have to say Office Space. Really inspired me not to take stuff so seriously. The scene in the bar where he's telling Micheal Bolton (:p) that he just lost his job, and the speech he gives afterwards, is one of the most inspirational moments ever put on film.

#2. Who do you look up to, and why?

I really dont have a role model, per se. I look up to my father because he's just an all-around good person, but thats about it.

#3. What is your proudest memory?

Probably the first time that I was on stage somewhere other than my school. I was in a production of Peter Pan at a major local theatre, and even though it was a fairly small part and there was hardly any audience, stepping onto that stage was like nothing I'd ever felt. I had done school plays and stuff before, but that was just such a magical feeling.

I guess that isnt really "proudest", now that I think about it. I guess that would be when I got a role in a major local production of A Christmas Carol. As far as community theatre goes, it was with a fairly prestigious group,,,amazing experience. It was only the second "real" auditon I had been to (outside of school, I mean), and when I was contacted to say I got the part I was estaticly proud of myself.

#4. What would your perfect day consist of?

- Sleeping in
- Having a nice, big breakfast...bacon, scrambled eggs, hasbrowns, ect.
- Taking a nice, long relaxing shower
- Going for a long walk with my girlfriend
- Sitting down at home to watch a good movie alone with her.

Im easy to please, and as far as Im concerned that is heaven.

#5. Dracula (1931) is almost your trademark film. Whenever I see it, hear of it, or read about it I immediately think of you. What about the film attracts you so much? What aesthetics, techniques, or attributes make the film so dear to you?

Two reasons.

The first is sheer nostalgia. I remember watching it when I was very young, and my parents tell me that its the first horror movie that I ever watched. I was drawn to it like no other movie, and even though I didnt watch it nearly as often as, say, Sword in the Stone, it left a huge impact on me. The Count was just so magical...powerful...I really dont remember watching it as a child save for one scene, near the first when he stops his brides from attacking Renfield. That scene alone left a huge impression on me.

The second is because almost every aspect of the filmmaking is flawless. About 2 years ago (roughly), I watched the film for the first time since I was around 5, and for the first time I realized what a truely beautiful film it is. The cinematography, score and sets are all beautiful in their simplicity. Browning builds and incredibly foreboding atmopshere right from the opening credits, with the piece from Swan Lake playing over that image of a bat.

The performances are really what elevates the film. Lugosi is beyond iconic in the role; he brought a whole new kind of monster to the screen: Suave and seductive yet still terrifying. Dwight Frye as Renfield is quite possibly the greatest supporting role in any movie, ever. He bring such depth to the character and no matter how many times I watch this movie I find myself clinging to his every word, and as an actor he has really become an infulence on me. The rest of the cast is very strong as well, but those are the two performances that really make the film.

#6. What are your plans after High School?

In all honesty Im not 100% sure as yet. I plan to take some sort of acting/theatre course at University, but beyond that I dont really have any set pllans. My dream is to become a successful actor, I hust dont have the map drawn out yet.

#7. What do you want to see happen before you pass away?

In my personal life, or the world as a whole?

Personally, I want success as an actor and a loving family with at least one child.

For the world as a whole, I want to see significant advances in space exploration and technology. Our future as a species lies in the stars, and if we dont make big leaps pretty soon, I think not only society but life as we know it is screwed.

whats your fav food..?? chinese food err americanized chinese food of course. I love chinese vegetables which are just normal vegetables swimming in oil or "fat sauce" and general tsao chicken.

What is the most sillyest thing you have ever done..??

OK, I got one. We were making cookies in home ec. A friend of mine thought it would be funny to throw some of the flour on my back because we were in that kind of mood and the teacher was away. We were all having fun while the teacher was out doing something outside the class. Anyway I decided to get my friend back so I snuck up on her with a couple huuuuge handfuls of flour and when she turns around I throw it all in her face. muahahaha

So she's got flour all over her face and all in her hair and pretty much all over, she runs to the big flour thing and is chasing me around our cooking section (kinda closed off to the other sections) with it. Eventually she gets me back and then the teacher gets back in the class and shes like "What the hell happened?!" She's just about to give the "you're not in elementary school anymore" talk when my friend spits out some flour and I blurt out "We couldn't wait for our cookies to bake" and the two of us just started laughing. Everyone was laughing at us because we were absolutely COVERED in flour. :D

who is your fav horror director..??

Alfred Hitchcock. Wow, his movies are amazing. He can make absolutely anything suspenseful... I don't really care about any other director really they all have different movies I like.

First of all, I'm sorry that I've not been around in a while. I've been sick. Sorry. However, thanks for finding me interesting.

1. No, my parents are staunch Christians. They're not very happy that I'm Pagan (not Wiccan)

2. It's utter disregard for nature. Though you can't escape Nature, our society believes that it has dominion over nature and that it's needs are more important than the needs of the whole planet.

3. Witches are completely misrepresented. In the past we were, of course, we were seen as evil and minions of the "Devil." This occured in societies, because they were dominated by a Christian monopoly. In literature this occured as well, but also we were viewed in a more fantastical light as well. Today, you get movies and shows doing shit that we can't do. We misrepresent ourselve when folks write books without any research about ancient cultures. Also, you get the science crowd saying we're full of shit, but they say everybody is full of shit. Then, of course, most Christians still think we're minions of Satan, but they're nuts.

4. "I'm okay when everything is not okay." -Tori Amos "Upside Down"

5. That's a hard question... Oddly enough, I can't go with a horror film on this one. I'd have to say "The Breakfast Club." I saw this movie in middle school, when I was dealing with being the "outsider." The whole concept and plot of the film was monumental for me. It addressed all of the people and issues that I dealt on a daily basis. It was a complete reflection of what I saw. The confrontation that the characters had towards the end of the film was really powerful for me, and I wanted to have a confrontation like that.

6. No. It's been a looooong time since I've felt like watching a film. Mostly, I've been reading. I want to. I bought it. I walk by it. I just don't feel like watching a film.

I know that I'm supposed to ask someone some questions, but... I'm not sure. Can I get back to you guys on that? I'll um... think about it. Some one can take my turn.

Goddamnit... Vacation over, back to slacking off here...

You would need someone to ask you questions... I never asked anyone questions. Circumstances being what they are, you're stuck with me asking you questions, so that you may ask questions. However, it isn't compulsory for you to answer them...

1. Do you enjoy any other artistic endeavors such as photography, painting, sketching, etc...?

2. You've mentioned hydroponic growing systems. Has this been scientifically proven to be more effective or is it theoretical?

3. What do you consider to be the best book ever written?

4. For you, how far would you have to go to go too far?

5. Have you ever been truly frightened?

Editted to mention something:

Not to take the attention off our P, but I did watch Suspiria, and I wish I hadn't. Also, yes, I tried to make another getaway and failed.

1. Do you enjoy any other artistic endeavors such as photography, painting, sketching, etc...?
Not personally...just cooking and writing. I guess if recipe creation could come into play under "artistic" then I'd go with that.

2. You've mentioned hydroponic growing systems. Has this been scientifically proven to be more effective or is it theoretical?
I am not sure what's been scientifically proven or not...but from what I understand there's better and quicker absorbtion of nutrients through a liquid medium which would allow for you to better apply certain things that could promote healthier growth in fruits and vegetables, or say, things that supposedly increase yield, or prolong budding or flowering time, if for some reason one were so inclined. If you're referring to the addition of the lights as well, growth speed and development can be manipulated to the liking of the grower through programmed exposure.

3. What do you consider to be the best book ever written?
One I haven't read yet.
I don't read a whole lot, but out of what I have read through some of the books I've enjoyed would be Victor Kellehers "the makers", John Marsdens "tommorow, when the war began", "the beach", Kings "IT", Crichtons "Prey", and for comics, I think that "batman - the killing joke" and "astro city" are both really high on my list...none really the stuff of greatness, but entertaining to me.

4. For you, how far would you have to go to go too far?
Just a little beyond the point of just far enough.

5. Have you ever been truly frightened?
A few times. Predominately through comtemplation of things that occur as potential consequences to various problematic situations, other times there have a few actual scary/dangerous incidents where I've feared for myself and at times, others too.
Dreams have frightened me, I don't know if something you fabricate in your own mind can be considered "truly" frightening or not, but at the time of endurance it's felt that way...

Ok, I'll hop in at some point and ask someone something...

*What's a nice, simple recipe that you can make within an hour, and less than 10 ingredients?

*Has Lily vomited on your face yet, and if so...get any in your mouth?

*What's your favourite decade of music, and what are 5 songs that immediately come to mind when you think of that decade?

*Ever finished any arcade games? Which ones?

*There's things that some people just don't eat...name 5 of yours, and if there's any reasons, list 'em. I aint about to argue. Unless it's avocado...that's crazytalk.

*What's the last "more than a cut/bump/bruise" injury you sustained, and how?

*When you use a public restroom, or have a toilet-refresher unit hanging on the rim your toiletbowl...do you piss directly on the pisshockeypuck thing, or the refresher?

*Night, or day?

What made you want to become a chef?

You have a great mind when it comes to horror..

Who would you deem the best/worst director of all time.?

Have you ever travelled out of Australia.?

while your waiting..

What made you want to become a chef?
Actually, I still don't know I want to really work as a chef. I suppose I'll be a chef one way or another, but it may not be an occupation...there's certain aspects of the industry I love, but I think I would rather do catering, or become a freelance cook...my goal would be to open up my own catering business, just something small, nothing too exclusive, myself and a couple of friends more than likely laughing it up over cool food ideas...
That said, what made me want to get into it was, a couple of years ago, I took a look at myself, saw that I hadn't amounted to much and wanted a change. I thought about how I hate writing essays (my writing doesn't suffer, though they do) and I suck badly at maths, I don't like customers all that much, and well, since having to put up with one of those mothers that knows how to cook 2-3 things well, and pretty much fucks up everything else, when I started cooking for myself and tried out a few kitchenhand/cook jobs in the past, when I was thinking about all this, I realised that I used cooking as a creative outlet...and unless a whole lot of people have been misleading me, I'm pretty good at it. The rest seemed simple, I could get into the course, so I went for it.
I like making good, healthy food, and I hope to one day publish a book of my experiences and recipes...one of my favourite things to do, is show people how simple it can be to make something great, with little effort, trying new things, and showing them to others.
Soooo....if you can pick the answer you wanted out of all that rambling, be my guest.

You have a great mind when it comes to horror..
were you inspired by anyone in particular.?
Eh? Was that one for me?
The whole movie thing is really just something I like to do. I like things that are a little strange and different, and films that you can see are made by those with a love of the art. It either comes across or it doesn't...same for horror as any other style.

Who would you deem the best/worst director of all time.?
I like Martin Scorsese and Oliver Stone...Although I love the whacky vision of Stephen Chow too...there's lots really.
Worst? uh...I don't like to be too critical, but I pretty much hate most of what I've seen from both Uwe Boll and Woody Allen.

Have you ever travelled out of Australia.?
Nope...I will though. Amsterdam and Japan being high on my list of priorities, probably thailand too, and india, if only for the spice markets and fresh foods.
Yeah, the travel thing will be largely about the food and learning for me.
Might look up some family roots in certain areas of europe.

If you could grant just one person one wish..
who would it be.?
Myself - The cure of all disease in humans and animals alike.
Maybe not immortality, but a good long life, give humanity a chance to focus on fixing how we've fucked up the world that sustains us instead.

Can't garauntee I'll ask anyone else questions just yet....but I guess now I've got a free ticket to do so.

- B.
