Watched John Carpenter's "The Fog" last night. It had been 10+ years since I had seen it. Anyway it was way better that I remember it, the acting and story were top notch, the soundtrack kicked ass (so much bass I had to take my clock off the wall it rattled so much). I'm thinking out of JC's work its right up there with "Halloween" and "The Thing". What does everyone else think of "The Fog"?

I think it has the best atmosphere of any Carpenter film. That's why I remember loving it. It also had excellent use of Buck Flower.

I just realized why Carpenter's last few movies haven't been up to par, he didn't put ole Buck in them.

Absolutely. Hell of a movie. I'm a huge fan of THE FOG.

Then again, I'm a sucker for anything Carpenter does . . . I'll admit it, even his shitty movies. :)

i havent seen it yet but am going to run out and rent it tonight. I love most of Carpenters movies, I mostly love his soundtrakcs just because they sound creepy and have alot of bass. I even like the newer movies of his ie. Ghosts Of Mars.

Yeah his music is amazing, well mostly. If you have "Big Trouble in Little China" there is a video from his band, it's down right silly. If you like that music and haven't seen it, check out "Susperia" from Argento (spelling), "Goblin" does the soundtrack, reminds me of Carpenters music but really background chanting, good stuff. The movie is really good too, a bit slow to start but a very stylish well made movie.

you know, i love the fog. i have fond memories of that movie from my childhood as with many other horror movies. it's really actually quite brilliant story telling and john carpenter i think overall has better horror movies than any other director in the genre. i think he's more consistent. he's only made a few movies that i'm not crazy about but most i can find something to like about them like ghost of mars. AND one thing that always gets me is how polite the ghosts are in THE FOG..they always knock at the door before they kill you ;)

i always dug the place of the dj in the movie. i just think it was a cool vehicle for some what of a narration. great movie.

It's too bad this movie is overlooked so much, it really is one of Carpenter's better pieces.

And yes, soundtrack is awesome. The piano chords are spooky.

Also put it down for one of my favorite horror movies. Although some of the effects look cheap, the story and everything else makes up for it. I even liked this more than The Thing. ;)
