Tyler Mane is the New Michael Myers
Source: Rob Zombie
December 26, 2006
After revealing that Malcolm McDowell is going to play the new Dr. Loomis in Halloween, writer/director Rob Zombie has also announced on his official Blog that Tyler Mane will star as the adult Michael Myers.
"I'm sure you all remember Tyler as Rufus from 'The Devil's Rejects,' Sabretooth in the 'X-Men' and the unstoppable Ajax in 'Troy,'" said Zombie. "Tyler is mean, lean and ready to bring you the most psychotic Michael Myers yet."
The new take on the classic horror movie is scheduled for an August 31 release.

I dont know...too big, IMO. He'd be a great Jason, but Micheal is more stealthy than strong...we'll see.

Sounds like we'll be substituting subtlety for crushing power
Not really a surprise, Zombie isn't known as having the most delicate sensibilities
But I'm still interested - nothing can destroy the original film and its brilliance. This one could be cool...certainly can't be worse than the recent spate of Halloween sequels.

certainly can't be worse than the recent spate of Halloween sequels. I agree. Halloween fans need to give Zombie a chance before writing the film off before its even been made. I dont think this is the greatest casting choice either, but we have to see how Zombie uses the height of this guy. If Zombie specifically signed this guy because of his height, and that is a dominating theme in the movie, it could definitely be trouble.
I think one of the "scary" things about Myers is that he could be anybody. A psycho who hides behind bushes and watches you, strategically coming in for the kill. Things will be a little different with an almost 7 foot myers. Myers doesnt need to be Andre the Giant to be effective.
I have nothing against Zombie trying to "reimagine" the original. But he is definitely walking a fine line between something that has the potential to be brilliant to something that could easily turn into a joke. Trying to "humanize" Myers could blow up in his face.

Michael was a big dude. and don't forget, guys can pack on or cut weight for roles. loose muscle, whatever. call me crazy, but i'm gunna trust Zombie on this!

Wow...that guys 6'10"...10 inches bigger than Michael Myers, thats a pretty noticeable difference. Even Jason is only about 6'1"-6'5". Plus hes not just tall, he's quite wide, and as someone mentioned Myers isnt. He's strong (mainly because hes insane and seemingly super-human) but not because hes big and muscly.

You wouldn't want a shot for shot remake would you? Let him reimagine it, add some of his own style into it. That's the only reason I think remakes have a chance, because somebody wants to share their vision. Like a cover song, it's much more moving if somebody not only does a good job but is able to combine the original song with their style for something new.

Im not saying that I dont trust him. This is one of few remakes that doesnt worry me at all...I was just saying that Im a little wary on this particular decision. Its the only thing that Zombie has announced so far that I havent been 100% in agreement with, and Im sure he'll pull it off whether I think its a good idea or not:)

No I wouldnt, but I'd also like some things to remain the same/similar. If the remake has some guy wearing a sack with eye holes rather than a William Shatner mask painted white, then I would pretty much have to kill everyone in the cinema that didnt seem to mind.
