Last night I want to the Grindhouse Film Festival. I've mentioned it several times on this site, but these are the people who do it right and they deserve as much recognition as they can get.

GFF is a monthly double feature of...you guessed it...1970's expliotation flicks complete with a raffle, special guests and a reel of expliotation trailers - all for $7.00! and the popcorn has REAL butter!

Last night was Black Christmas and Silent Night, Bloody Night.

the guests were Bob Clark, John Saxon & Olivia Hussey. Also in the audience were John & Clu Gulager (it was John's B-day, so we sang to him) And the kids who played Scott Fargas and Flick from A Christmas story.

I sat across the aisle from Olivia Hussey, who is still HOT! She hadn't seen the film since it came out and was genuinely bewildered and touched by the standing-room-only crowd. She also jumped and laughed and even hid her face a few times...I couldn't help but follow her reactions as she watched the film.

Did I mention that she looked amazingly sexy?

And the movie plays soooo much beter in a theater full of afficionados than it can ever be on TV (no matter how good your home theater system is) and was a real treat.

The Q&A after the movie ran really long, so I bailed before the second film - but a great night out! Bob Clark was hilarious, John Saxon told Enter the Dragon stories, Olivia Hussey was asked to compare Bob Clark and Franco Zafferelli.

Good Times! I'm still grinning:D

So did she ask you to zip yourself back up?

LMAO that's probably why she was hiding her face.:p

That sounds like a LOT of fun. I wish L.A. wasn't hell on Earth, I'd visit more often. We have film fests like that up here at the Crest theatre in downtown Sacramento, and they always show good stuff like Frankenhooker and Biker Sluts From Hell. Plus it's just fun to go sit in the Crest, which is an AWESOME old place with a really fascinating ceiling. Plus you can smoke all the bud you want at the midnight shows and they don't care lol.....you can barely see the screen for the smoke at Spike and Mike's Sick and Twisted Film Festival.:)

There isn't any smoking in this theater, but most people are drinking...and no one cares. Actually it's encouraged. They always raffle off at least 1 bottle of Nighttrain or Thunderbird. Last night, they went upsace and raffled a bottle of Santa's Private Reserve Ale from Rogue Brewery:)

Hell, even my buddy the Disney producer brought a miniature of bourbon to pour into his soda.

And LA is soooo not hell on earth. Miss O - Come on down and I'll show you around;)

True, the only part I've seen is from the freeway, but good GOD....the rain is like maple syrup;)

I might take you up on that one day, though. Even if there ARE Husseys running around all over the place.:D

For the Halloween of 2005 I went down to Burbank and met some friends for a spookariffic screening of Bride of Frankenstein with a spook show magic act by Dr. Shocker aka Daniel Roebuck. It is an intense film to see projected, and the magic show was wild. I had paid something like nine dollars for the ticket and walked out feeling pretty satisfied!

Yep. John directed Feast and Clu played the Bartender (as well as being a true life-long character actor in film and tv)
