I saw the trailer and I first thought it was the prequel to the Hannibal Lecter films (The murders, cookies made of human flesh...) Nothing beats the orginal, but as long as there's the girl propped up in the window w/ the cellophane/plastic bag over her head, I'm game.

Going by what a few people who have seen the film are saying, it supposedly sucks. But people were saying that same shit about TCM The Beginning.

I will definitely be in the theatre on Christmas.

because it sucked It wasn't that bad. Not the best movie I ever seen, but it sure as hell wasn't the worst. My hopes for Black Christmas aren't all that high anyways, but I'll see it regardless. Its not like there's a shitload of horror movies to choose from in theatres.

Rent the original one or something. I've seen the original. Its actually one of my favorite horror films. I remember it really creeping me out when I was a kid.

The original was a mess, I thought, until the last 15 minutes or so.

I won't deny that there is plenty of room for improvement on this one. It really was one of the slowest and most uneventful films of it's genre. But the plasticwrapped body in the attic still lingers as an iconic horror image.

honestly im more syked about the new special edition of the original, than i am about the remake. but after seeing the FEARNET 2:30 min clip i'll see it. i still got a couple of gift cards and a ton of reward points for the local theater.

I just remebered that I always get gift certificates for the theater for christmas every year,so I might see it,unless something better comes out.

Who is this crazy lady that reviews horror films for this site?? She gave this movie a positive, and even tried to downplay the original.

First off let me say that I've seen this movie, and it isn't scary by any stretch of the imagination. Basically they did the opposite of what worked for the original. It does offer a couple of good kills, but a good movie that doesn't make.

Anyways, I read her review on here and just seemed to me that she's only into the gore aspect of horror. Does she care about the central appeal for horror at all? Judging from what I read, she disgraces the title of horror fan.

I'm interested to hear what folks who liked the original think of the new one. I loved the original so I'm going to avoid the new one unless I hear positive things from some other fans of the original.

Sure you can, you just have to know where to get it. I got it from Netflix.

If you're expecting to walk into a Blockbuster or a Hollywood Video to get it, your chances are slim. They'd rather supply the good movies; You know. Like Gigli.

Can you even rent it? i've never seen it avalable Yeah, I rented it at Blockbuster a couple years ago. Until that point, I hadnt seen it since the 80's. And as another poster said, its been rereleased on DVD. Definitely check it out.

worst fucking remake ever, and possibly one of the worst horrors.

some films suck because of the cast, some because of the director and then there are the ones that suck because everything about the film sucks( this would be one of those). the cast was the only good part. this film is fucking horrible, i loved the original. at first i hated the fucking thing because it was a horrible remake, then i relized i hated it cause it wast the worst peice of shit ive ever scene in the theater.

the only damn things this and the original had in common were crazed killer, soroity house, title, and attic/ phone calls. they totaly fucked up. they basicly used the resident evil recipe buy got all the ingredents wrong.

and here come the "spoilers"

"SPOILERS"!!!!!!!!!!!
they basicly started with something and relized they fucked up and then insted of starting over they just kept building new layers of shut to cover the previous.

the plot was very over done, in simple terms 7 kinds of shit in a 1 shit salad.

the fucking kills were very over done, the whole back story was fucked, then the new story was even more fucked, and why the fuck did billy have yellow skin? why did the mom fuck billy if she hated him so much.why did the daughter go killer too? why did billy basicly become jason vorhees towards the end? how in the fuck did they get into the goddamn morge, ang how the hell did they both live through the fire/ fall?

the only thing original was the skin cookies, and varations of that have been done.

i had problems/ dislikes about the jumping around, 2 killers, and the whole killers coming back again. i also had problems with misleading previews and missing main characters/ discoverys from the original.

about the only thing i liked about the movie was that the father in the original was replaced by the super bitch of a half sister. oh and the hot factor of basicly the whole soroity house.

"SPOILERS" END

oh and if your gonna bitch go and see it first, then you have every right to bitch with or at me. oh and for the teeny crowd who hover around this site just to pick up on remakes and dont see the original( then support the remake), shut the fuck up because it is a remake not a rip off.

example:
-when a stranger calls (1979) = original
-when a stranger calls (2006) = remake
-when a killer calls (2006) = rip off
