my uncle said he had worked on this film. He claimed it was pretty much hannibal before Silence Of The Lambs came out. Would you reccomend it or no? im not really sure excactly what he did on the set of this film, but i know he's worked on a bunch of other films ex. Dances With Wolves

I think most peopel here would recommedn it to you, it is basically Red Dragon,. but done by Michael Mann (Heat, Miami Vice (the tv series))

I dont like it, it's too music video for me, and i am much more fond of the cleaner look and feel of Red Dragon, plus i thought edward Norton and Ralph Fiennes were great in it. But, most peopel reference Brian Cox's hannibal lecter as being much more subtle and refined. I would see it if for no other reason than to formulate your own opinion.

Fiennes was certainly better in the role than Noonan, but IMO Petersen was much, much better Norton.

Meh, not me. I like Edward Norton in just about everything, and Petersen in almost nothing :)

i loved manhunter, hated red dragon.
manhunter will stay with you .. michael manns knack for marrying visuals with music will ensure that.

manhunter feels more like art ... red dragon felt like something desperately thrown together to complete the hopkins trilogy... shallow and fleeting.

Agreed, I also enjoy both. Manhunter blows Red Dragon out of the water, but thats not to say that Red Dragon isnt pretty good.

i never saw red dragon, didnt feel i needed to. i did however see the one with the brain open at the dinner table thingy. that felt like peter jackson's earlier efforts but in a serious attempt. fucking brutal essentially.

You know, I actually have never really cared for Silence of the Lambs. The only reason I watched Hannibal (I really liked it) was because of Ridley Scott.

I don't know if it helps one way or the other which order you watch Manhunter/Red Dragon in. I'll agree with Return, Manhunter is the far superior film, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't give Red Dragon a go.

Man, this was my favortie movie of all time for awhile...get the two disc special edition, this truly rocks. Red Dragon is closer to the book...that's three actual books I read...actually when my mom was in Hospital in 1999 and I was traveling 2 hours each way to see her everyday I got Hannibal on book/on/tape...was read by the author and very cool...but they both are very entertaining to me...I have a hard time with CSI..because I'm thinking Peterson is Will Grahama...not Grissom.

i hope its not a case of preferring the one you saw first ..

i think Manhunter is far superior to Red Dragon ...
in a seperate class of quality altogether.

I like Red Dragon better than Manhunter...I thought Manhunter was a little lame...

Manhunter is my favorite Harris adaption because it was handled with a lot more subtlety which gave it a chilling realism. The others were a bit too overblown for me.

I had this soundtrack on tape in 1988...was very hard to find but was really great group of songs and instrumentals.
